Air in fuel lines - retrofit kit

I have changed all of the 'o' rings, including all of the fuel lines. I have also replaced the Pre-filter 'o' ring and the IP and heat exchanger.

I contacted http://www.mercedes-benz-parts.co.uk/ for advice on this problem. They stated that I had low pressure in the fuel lines and quoted a retrofit kit part number A2024700193. The kit was £100.84 inclusive.

I purchased the kit from them but it has arrived without any fitting instructions. The bag of bits includes part number A2024760432 (valve?)and has two wires on it (Blue and yellow) which are pre-terminated. In the kit there is also two rubber fuel pipes, loads of clips and jubilee clips. I have contacted Inchcape for further information, but so far no joy.

Can anyone help please - if you know about this kit do you have a copy of the fitting instructions? There is no reference to these part numbers on the EPC parts system I have.

PM me your fax number (inc country code) or email address, I'll send you the instructions, I've just realised what kit you're talking about.

In the meantime where is the first point that you can see air in the fuel lines?

Is the air entering from the fuel filter end of line 32 or the other end?

If it's entering from the fuel filter end then replace the pre-fuel filter (155)and o-rings (2 orings). If it's from the other end then replace the fuel pre-heater. The seals are leaking in the pre-heater now that these engines are getting older.

Do you also need the retrofit instructions?

Thanks Ausmbtech ,

I don't know from where the air is entering, because I can't see any air bubbles in the pipe line.

The only thing I can see is that , when the engine is off the diesel oil drops back 3 cm (see photo ).

There are no leaks of diesel and no smell .

I have almost replaced every part such as : all of the 6 oil fuel lines, all of the o-rings, feed pump ,heat exchanger, 6 glow plugs, shutt off valve, fuel hoses, fueltank filter + o ring, clamps, pre -filter and diesel filter.

If the engine is running there are no air bubbles in the 6 oil pipe lines.

So my last attempt is the retro fit kit , you can mail that for me.

Kindregards ,

patakka.

Unless you are having starting difficulties after sitting overnight then I doubt the retrofit kit will help you. It was only designed for W202's with 604, and 605 diesels. It could also be retrofited to your W210 with the 606 engine but I would want to rule out all possible leaks first (only if you have a starting problem). A little air without a starting syptom is nothing to worry about.

When you replaced the pre filter, did you replace the oring on the filter (must be ordered seperately) and the oring on the fuel line that attaches to the pre filter? they are the likely suspects.

Sent you a PM

Hello Ausmbtech,

Yes the o rings are replaced , even the nozzles are inspected there are no leaks.

I almost always have starting problems, no matter whether the car stood still for a day.

It always starts at a second attempt , and when the engine is hot its gets even worse.

Kind regards,

patakka.
