vibration at highway spped

I have a problem with my C230. While driving at highway speed around 60 - 70 mph, vibration are felt at the steering wheel. It gets really bad and spreads to the pedals and I can feel it even from my seat.

It goes away after 70mph and comes back within 60-70mph.

I had checked the air pressure and it is within spec and tires are still pretty new.

Any ideas to fix this?

Have the tires balanced.

minor correction - have all 4 WHEELS balanced. Very likely, one of the weights put on one of the wheels has fallen off. If you bought the tires, go back to the place where you bought the tires, they *may not* charge for the balancing the wheels.

Okay, after changing out the two castro brushing. The vibration is gone. There is a slight vibration though and also tire noise. I think this is from the tires that is feathered out. I need to change this out and then I am sure I'll get a smooth driving.

Castro brushing?
Did you mean to say Control Arm bushings? or Anti-Sway-Bar bushing?

Wheel bearing. I had the same issue before on a Infiniti Q45.

It could be what he meant was castor bushing. Anyway, whatever bushing it was, you could be on point on your first assesment. An unbalance wheel could cause vibration at speed, usually at around 60-70 MPH the fact that one of the bushing was worn out, it made it worse. Now that the bushing was replaced the vibration is not as pronounced as before.

What baffled me was the tyres being feathered, it would take quite few miles to do that on a tire so maybe he has been driving it with bad vibration for a while.

Yes. I have been driving it with this vibration or actually the previous owners did. I doubt they have any idea of this issue at all. They even went to get new tires and yet the vibration is there. It's just sad how poorly this car was treated.

do you have staggered wheels ? If not maybe switch the fronts to backs and see if the vibration is there. Could the wheel be bent or flat spot? Jack the front wheel and spin it and observe any changes.

Yes I think it's staggered. The size for the front is different from the back. I had thought about this before, but nah it won't work.

Did you ever have them properly balanced? These cars can be hell on tires - maybe you just need new ones if the ones you have are feathered.

Yea I already have a new set waiting to be put in. The current tires looks good, other than being feather and hearing road noise. The MBtech said this car only like continental or michellen tires.

Oh well, I just don't know if I should throw away these tires currently has great treads on them. I really hate to waste them, especially how expensive they are on the invoices the previous owner showed me.

BS. You can go with any brand tire you would like. My C230 has worn Michelin, Continental, and Kumho brands and the Michelins were by far the worst, but it was the line of tire that was the problem (Primacy MXV4). Michelin makes damn good tires, I just don't think they're worth the price of admission. The Conti DWS tires I have now are doing good at 20,000 miles. The Kumho Ecsta ASX tires I had lasted 30k miles and were great tires - also not expensive.
