2002' c240 transmission problem.
i have a 2002 c240 with 167k.
transmission is jerks very hard when moving from park to drive and reverse.
when in drive transmission wont shift out of 1st gear,
Stuck in Sport mode and wont go pass 25mph. check engine light for p0715
turbine input shaft speed sensor.? any ideas?
MB Says needs needs a rebuild along with a torque convertor and computer.

p0715 indeed refers to turbine input shaft speed sensor. But I want to ask, is this code pulled out with Star diagnosis or not? Please verify
General scanners should not be used for transmission diagnosis in any circumstances, they can not read MB transmission codes.
Example from another forum, guy had the same code with scanner than you and then used MB's Star to diagnose... turned out to be wiring problem
Dealers response about rebuild, new TC sounds rubbish to me...

011 speed sensor voltage supply, ground short
050 rpm n3 too high clutch disc carrier
116 tr oil temperature sensor,start lock-out con
135 CAN COMMUNICATION DISTURBED:ENGINE MANAGEMENT
147 GEAR IMPLAUSIBLE OR TRANSMISSION SLIPPING

The diagnosis is not very expensive even you choose to use the dealer, in here about ~$40
Also some indy shops have Star, atleast these guys http://www.benzshops.com/virginia/wo...gn-car-service claim they are the only ones having in richmond
Keep thread updated and lets see whats the prob

Just get it plugged to the star first,
Those codes normally come together with another codes,
Mine was experienced same issue few months back. Went into limp mode and have to drive miles with limiter turned on to make sure it wont pass 25mph..
Dealership quoted me for a TCU and much other stuff, with total cost around $2000++,
After learning the codes, i was pretty sure that the problem is with the speed sensor unit located on the electric plate.
So decided to brought it to my trustable indy shop (go there few times, and always satisfied with the job - problems never recurring), tell the mechanic about the issue and what i think about it. And it was right, the speed sensor went bad, it was cracked (maybe due to an age - mine is 2001).
Replaced the whole plate, and flush the tranny oil, with total cost around $300 top.
Now my tranny perform like a new car. A happy benz owner once again.
EDIT :
Ah, just found the scan print out,
My codes was : P0715, P0730 (related and stored in ETC),
And the break down from ETC codes is : P220A (speed comparison between two speed sensors is implausible) & P2502 (gear is implausible or the transmission is slipping)
All codes cleared and gone after the plate replacement.
