2007 C280 4matic with water damage
We purchased a 2007 C280 with water damage. It appears the car had a wave splash maybe into the air intake. No other signs of water damage. The car starts but runs rough. It also has an oil leak but we cannot tell where except that maybe it in the left front corner of the engine and maybe in the right rear. We have used an inspection camera. There is no water in the oil or oil in the antifreeze. We cannot tell if it a seal or if the head is cracked. Any ideas? I am leery of just having another engine installed as there seems to be problems with certain engines. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Based on your description of the current condition, I don't think it's prudent to go on suggestions provided on internet (because none of us have access to check any of those effected components of the car). You should take the car to a competent mechanic. If necessary, get a second opinion.

Pull the spark plugs, check for water in the spark plug tubes before removal.
Compression check all cylinder would be a good start.
To get water into the motor it has to go through the filters, check MAF and boxes for water.
Good Luck
