Unhappy Mercedes w203 c200 cdi low working temperature

HI guys... while ago i bought C-klasse 200 cdi from 2001 t-model with 115 hp.
The working temperature on the car was little above 65 celsius degrees, so i
went to service and change the thermostat.
On first drive was OK, and now after 2 days its same like before changing the thermostat...

Did anyone has that problem ???

Please help....tnx in advance...

on this car it has a heater assist to warm the water located above the starter motor when it goes relay jams on gives a flat battery approx £200-300 for the part starter need removing to replace i believe its a known fault lot of people disconnect them the AA did mine runs at 65-70 now was 80 but uk dont have to many cold winters note if is that and you reconnect it your battery will be flat in 4hrs you need an amp drain tester to see if pullinf 14amps or 30amp when ignition off might not be this hope it helps...

If your car has one possible mine os located directly above the starter motor small black plastic cylinder i used mobile phone on record to see it from underneith the car if its disconnected the wire will be removed and taped up as mine is.
my understanding is it works like a kettle warming water when needed in the mornings and when temp drops using a relay located inside the housing to switch on and off but the relay goes as there is a lot of heat in there. worth a look i guess but not to sure about the 200tdi..

I have same C200CDI.

Your car has 2 (two) thermostats. Change the other one too and your car will warm faster. The heater booster (can be activated in car settings) is guaranted to fail in every single W203, dont spend $500+ to fix it please.

The 2nd thermostat is behind the horns. About 5min job to change and you need hose pliers for that operation. The part itself is about $50 from the dealer.

Here are pics of mine when I changed it. (spilled some lol)

Mine temperature was stuck at ~60 too even with new OEM thermostat but now it gets to 90 when changed that smaller one. Still need to drive about 10km tho because the heater booster is dead

Hey, you can see the 2nd thermostat when you open the hood and its right behind the horns in front of the radiator, see my pictures.

And the recirc. pump is also visible next to the cooling reservoir. I also changed that pump earlier since it was dead. also $50 part and easy fix

I can almost make a bet you have them both since I have the same year and same engine than you. And yes if the 2nd thermostat and the pump are dead, your car will not warm fast

Its unmounted, but the second thermostat its on the car...

the main thermostat is new...
Could be the problem missing pump to engine running at 60-70 celsius degrees ???? Every time ???
Or the second thermostat ???

I think if the heater assist had gone or does it flattens your battety so id go with the second thermostat like previous post suggests if your hearer assist is gone id leave it disconnected as it is bound to go again.

I took out the thermosat(the second) and checked, while the engine was cold and noticed that liquid misses from both sides...
I think when is cold, should not miss liquid from both sides...

is that a problem ???? or thats the way it works ???

is the thermostat genuine part? Main one reading posts the aftermarket ones are not to good mine does not have the 2nd one as far as i can see
went europarts and got a thermostat for £21 and turned out to be not the same had to get one from dealship that cost £48 inc gasket and v.a.t. so happy i did not had a chance to fit it yet but going by the 100s of threads on the subject its a common problem plus check you mix antifreeze to water ratio is correct.
that all i got for you sorry😕

No as i can see just the one in the uk so colds not to bad but from what i read should be 90 normal running temp takes a lot longer to cool down when stopped i.e. go shoppin come back and the engine temp still at 50-60 cant believe the diffrence..

The heater assist is on top of starter motor and warns the water up in the morning as for the reserc pump not sure if you mean water pump but google it and pulls up all threads from there but only thing is if resurc pump or water pump fail surly they will make the car run hotter not colder
other things affect engine temp running to cold is anti freeze summer coolant mix to strong thermostat constantly open as far as i know...
