2004 C230 wont start, no crank...
My 2004 C230 Mercedes will not start when i insert the key. Light illuminate as usual, but the engine does not crank at all. This is what sumps me as I want to blame the starter, but there is no sounds coming from the engine that I can tell. I hear a hum coming from below the air intake and really nothing else. I have replaced the fuse 52 even though it looked good. I also swapped the relay S to see if that was the problem, with no luck at all. When roadside assistance came along they said my battery was golden. I pulled a few codes off and they confuse me... i have p0620,p0562... i have another but i know they go to something that i have not fixed yet p0171. at a loss here and hope some one can help. I don't mean to repeat a post, just could not find any thing that worked for me. thanks for any help in advance.

Out Of Control!!
Well it is not as bad as it seems---the P0620 is a alternator fault it has stopped suplying voltage---you either have a very loose connection within the system or a bad alternator----The 0562 confirms that as the ECU is sensing low voltage.
The unrelated P0171 indicates that you have a leak in the intake and or exhaust system
The bad news is that those faults will take time to find--that means hours that means bucks-------find a good shop that won't own the car after they are done spending hours and finding nothing---be careful of sheep grazing around their building!!
The unrelated P0171 indicates that you have a leak in the intake and or exhaust system

Have your battery load tested. Check fuses 31 & 57 as well, 31, 52 & 57 required for start enable.

I had the same issue on my C55, but I had a battery drain going on for sometime and being that the battery was weak too many times, it eventually killed the starter. One day I parked the car at the store, came out and nothing, battery good, lights work, but no cranking.
The battery drain was another story which took weeks to diagnose...
