Cigarette light stopped?
Hey guys, ran into another problem...Not serious as a engine check light but annoying...My Cigarette light seems to have stopped working...First i noticed it when i try to use the lighter it wouldn't pop back up...I finally got it out so i decided to put my phone charger in to see if its getting power. But not power...Seems either a fuse for the lighter is blown or a bad lighter? Anyone ran into this problem? Or can direct me to the fuse panel where i might find a blown fuse?

Mine did the same thing. The fuse is in the truck on the right side. Once you open it is a fuse on the right side on the fuse box.

Do you ever put change near or around the ash tray? Sometimes coins find their way inside the cigarette lighter and it shorts it out.

It's a Mercedes. It's been engineered to save your life in every way it can. So, it won't light a cigarette! Outstanding!

damn, mine short out too. I put my coins in the ash tray and one little penny finds it fun to play in there for a while. Took me a while to get it out and when I did, the plug stopped working. Anyone know how to fix this?

Never have used my lighter...actually use the ashtray as a coin holder but my son spilled a drink in there (fun to clean up) and shorted out the lighter and it stopped working. I'm the type of person that likes to have everything working properly in a car and this was bugging me....The fuse is located in the #71 fuse spot, it's a 15 amp and it's located in the rear panel of the trunk. Thanks to the information in this thread...all is well again.

Perhaps you are charging a device that draws too much current or the plug causes a short-circuit (I've seen even OEM cell phone chargers that cause this on some cars).

Fuse #71 - Socket, Front
My Front Socket fuse service schedule, on my 2011 C300 W204 car, it is listed as fuse location 9,71,78.
After noticing that a number of people are having the same problem, I decided to look in my trunk and see if the fuse was blown. I've attached a photo of the fuses that are in the trunk of my car.
The little yellow block of fuses on the right hand side is the "block of interest" to us.
It has room for seven (7) fuses in total. From bottom to top, they are numbered 67 thru 73 inclusive. And low and behold, there is no fuse at all in position #71 (the fifth from the bottom) - it's empty! I wonder if this is why so many people are having trouble with the 12 Volt Cigarette Lighter plug. In fact, I don't believe there is even a wire going to the back the panel for position #71 where the 15 amp fuse is listed.
Take a look at the photo and then take a look at your little yellow panel and let me know.
Update: Went out to the car tonight (2012-05-09) with a good LED Flashlight and a 15 AMP (Blue) fuse and pushed it into position #71 which I had conformed had a wire connected to the back of. The Cigarette lighter, also known as Socket, Front - now works. I don't believe that there was EVER a fuse in position 71. So, that problem is now closed!
Respectfully,
John Neubauer

i am having the same problem, in our 2013 C250. The socket isnt working and the lighter itself is stuck in there and wont pop back out. I checked the fuses, there is a fuse, blue colored, 15 amp, in position 71, so thats fine. I dont know what else could be the problem, although my dad did spill a sprite in the car once, and most of it got onto the center console, so maybe that shorted it out...

the rear outlet is working though; i used that for the air compressor last night. Is the rear and front on the same fuse, or are they on different ones? I managed to wiggle out the lighter from the socket so thats taken care of.
