w204 left side marker light not working - not bulb
Hi everyone,
I have purchased the DEPO clear side markers and changed them today.
Unfortunately I did not check if the lights were working on my markers but now the left one doesn't work.
I swapped a few bulbs, the chrome coated one that came with the new clear side markers, and the 2 original ones but none of them will turn on.
I saw on the fuse mapping (from the toolbox - damn took me some time to find this one) that there's only 1 fuse that controls these bumper lights, num 13, so the problem shouldn't be fuze related because the right marker light is working fine.
I removed the mud pad again, played with the wirings , moved them around, removed the connectors from the socket and checked all the "visible" wiring but did not see any damage. The same wire is taped to the xenon fog light but I am sure I did not stretch the wires or anything like that.
Does anyone have any pointers? maybe another fuse controlling individual lights? or computer reset as I read from one of the old threads over here?
Any help would be appreciated
Thank you!

This post helped me today, couldn't for the life of me figure out why one side was out and replacing the bulb didnt help. One I cycled the ignition it worked. The computer must sense the blown bulb and cut off power to that circuit until you replace the bulb and cycle the ignition.

On my 2008 C300 4matic Sport the front amber side marker light, passenger side, apparently lost a screw (?) and the top is coming out of the hole in the bumper cover. The light is working fine, I just need to get the "fixture" back in the hole. The owners manual says it is a complex job and is best left to a MB dealer. Can anyone help me with how to get it installed correctly? I don't want to mortgage my house by going to a Mercedes dealer unnecessarily. The whole lens, bulb, connector, and black backer piece just come right out if you wiggle it. The gray piece has 2 hooks and a snap claw (?) but I can not get it to click into the bumper opening properly. The black piece has a small screw hole that apparently holds the two pieces together, but if I put a screw in and close it up, I cannot get it back into the opening- it is so close yet so far away. The OEM screw is gone- vanished. Any and all advice is welcome. Seems to be a poor design if you have to dismantle the front end to change a stinking light bulb.

help?
I switched my side marker lights out for white ones with leds. My driver side one won't turn on. I've tried doing a 180 with the connection and it didnt work. I was careful not to pull on any of the wires but I can't figure out why its not lighting up. Could it be a fuse?
I do get a message about checking it but I'm still stuck.
Thanks in advance!!!!

side marker bulb / drivers side
After reading about the same issue with the side marker bulbs that several owners have experienced with the Mercedes I think its time to get Congress involved. It has been an ongoing problem that has not been addressed.
In my case, with an E 350, I had the left side marker bulb replaced at the dealer. After a couple months the same bulb went out, I took it back to the dealer (Old Country) Hartford, CT They now suggested that I replace the socket that houses the bulb, that was a $200.00 job so I approved it. Now about 8 weeks later the same bulb went out so i returned to (Old Country) the dealership, The service writer now tells me that there is probably a crack in the amber lens and therfore the bulb was blown. My reply to her was " a bunch of balonaga" I pointed out to her had that been the case why did the advise me to replace the bulb socket on the previous visit @ $200.00 cost.
At that point I just gave up and have living without my left side marker lamp. I stopped in to speak to Service Manager but he was not on premi sis at the time but now that I've seen that so many of you have been havin the sme problem I will be at that Dealership bright and early on Monday. Thank you guys for the postings.

That side marker instruction helped us replace ours.
Thank you to all that shared the knowledge. My Cancer surviving husband (9 years) Mechanic many years ago was able to change out that bulb for the marker with the instructions. And the kicker to the post is recycle the ignition to reset instructions to bulb. Works lke a charm. I so very much Thank you from the Oldfools

Side marker light not working when vehicle on
I recently replaced both parking side marker bulbs on my 2012 GL 450. They’ve been working fine for the last month until I noticed the drivers side bulb was out again! It will not work when vehicle is running but when I turn the car off and let the lighting system shut down completely and go back and turn the side marker lights on manually and toggle back and forth- they BOTH work. It’s not a “physical” issue. Any advise?

w204 left side marker light not working - not bulb
First of all, thank you MBWorld! I recently purchased my first ever MB and have already visited this forum numerous times to seek information and gain knowledge. It's brilliant. Thank you.
I was also having this front left marker light issue. Changed the bulb just yesterday (went in through the plastic panel in front of the wheel by removing two 10mm screws then sticking my arm up through the gap!) and it still didn't work. Very annoying. I'm going to do it again today and cycle the ignition. I just learnt that expression this morning
Thanks to taktube67 and Edmundo. I'll let you know how I get on.
Cheers all! Teej
