Just to report back to the forum.
I took the car to MB dealer and yes this is apparently a common issue with C250. In the service note/receipt they reference to TSB LI09.40-P-055396. Banjo bolt with valve at turbo fitting was replaced. I did have to pay for the inspection and the repair work since my car is out of warranty.

Hey mate. So which exact seals did they replace? I think the seals are damaged by the high oil pressure caused by the old banjo bolt. I replaced the banjo bolt, smoke reduced significantly. I guess it's time for me to replace the seals.

I just hope this actually fixes the smoke problem.

You guys that have paid out of pocket for this "banjo bolt" repair, what's it been running you if you don't mind sharing? Our 2012 C250 is doing the start-up smoke thing with 60k miles. Sort of a bummer, as the car has otherwise been super reliable.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Maybe try some Techron in the tank and drive it WOT for a few seconds here and there. My car, when newer, would blow black-ish smoke if I floored it to pass on two lane roads after driving like a "granny" for a few weeks during break-in. It was only a brief "puff" during kick-down.
The OP doesn't have a car with DI though

White Smoke is water, blue smoke is oil and black smoke is fuel.
If it has been sitting around and blows white smoke when it starts it's just the condensation built up in the exhaust that is quickly burning off, do not worry about it. If white smoke is coming out the exhaust while you are driving then it can be a head gasket or something like that.
Do not worry about the white smoke on the start up.

hello
I have a e-class 220cdi 2005 and sometimes when driven in the city it has a "puff" of black smoke. When in highway it seems no smoke anymore.
Is the diesel in this kind of smoking?
thanks

It's not the typical condensation white smoke. It's blue smoke - which means oil build up. It doesn't blow out smoke when I drive the car nor when I step on it. This normally happens when the cars sits overnight in the garage.

C Class is a heavy smoker
I have the same issue with my 2013 C250. I bought it when it had only 23k on it, now it is about 70k miles. The puff of grayish-white smoke comes out of tailpipe only at the startup. So it seems as when it is left alone for a few hours, it smokes at the start. But it has never failed the state inspection. I will research a DIY fix and save a few hundred dollars.

My understanding is that the banjo restrictor bolt attaching the oil feed to certain turbo'd car runs was allowing above spec oil pressure at the turbo center cartridge...would force oil past the turbo seals when oil cold or incorrect oil weight used (even higher pressure ) causing smoking and if left uncorrected could blow those seals so smoking became constant .
