Looking for BMS intake (W204 C250)

hey Guys,

Because im located in California, I cant buy the BMS intake off their website being that sales are prohibited to CA residents. IS there anyone who know of any third party retailers or possibly anyone in forum that is selling their intake?

Is there proof of this? Can anyone else confirm that they have this problem with the BMS intake?

very easy, BMS is an open filter, the heat from the engine is getting pulled straight into the filter. Its not a close box with an inlet of cold air. No way for it not to heat soak

We run forced induction through an FMIC. Heat soak is a non-issue. This becomes even more the case if you throw on a turbo blanket and a header blanket.

Look at all of the big HP turbo cars in the modified scene. They all run open pod filters because:

a) air passing through a turbo heats right up anyway
b) the FMIC cools after the above has occurred
c) given the above 2, it is far more important to reduce restriction on the intake side of the filter than worry about how cool the air going in is

Normally I'd agree with your logic but the difference with our particular engine is it literally sits next to the engine, atop the intake manifold. Also, most HP turbo cars have their air filter located closer to the front of the car even in stock form. I don't think it's fair to compare our stock set up/BMS intake to HP cars, they are developed with heatsoak in mind which is why they have the turbo blankets etc.

I run a lot of meth thru my blown vette and it helps with any heat soak, but these little 1.8 feel the heat and loose power quick. Not an efficient set up

I think valid points both ways. I will be getting turbo and manifold blankets for mine, as well as the BMS intake (or one of my own devising).

When I have everything together, I'll see about getting on a dyno and swapping bits on and off.

I look forward to your results, I myself have not found the motivation yet to pull more parts off to treat for heat reduction.

Btw, I was thinking about your intake idea. Consider keeping the oem box as is minus the filter, keeps the cooling of the ecu function intact but then cut the intake pipe where it meets the intake box and install this as your filter.
