Transmission Mount questions

Know for a fact that my transmission mounts need to be replaced. How many are there? I can only find one mount. Also, is there a DIY on how to do this? I have access to a full shop where I can do this. Any assistance will be appreciated.

There are 2 motor mounts and 1 tranny mount. Do you have shaking at idle? How do you know its only the tranny mount and not a motor mount? Get the car on a lift and see if the motor mounts are leaking. If its only the tranny mount, get the AMG one. I did and its much more stout.

Thank you for your reply. After I posted, I researched the issue and noticed that I have to replace all mounts. Any suggestions as of what brand to get or should I go OEM?

Do you know what caused them to go bad? Or did they just wear out?

Are those OEM or aftermarket? Also, who sells them? I am ready to buy right away.

These are aftermarket (but German, better than OEM, what all the AMGs use) parts.

Mine were replaced under my extended warranty.

When I've looked around, Pelican Parts, ECS Tuning, or FCP Euro usually has what you need at competitive pricing.

I really can't complain. But one word of note. You will have to get an alignment afterwards. The mounts in there now are worn out and have caused the suspension to sag. When you change out the mounts, the car and engine will ride a bit higher and change the geometry of the suspension. My steering wheel was off a little after. When the alignment was done, the car drove really tight.

Not familiar with that brand. My shop uses mainly Lemforder, Delphi, or OEM.

Can someone explain the above post about how tranny and motor mounts affect suspension and car's ride height? I just can't seem to understand. Are these cars that complex? I have never heard of needed alignment after motor mounts/tranny mount. I thought they are independent of one another.

Corteco is one of the OEM's for engine mounts. Mercedes used them as did Audi/VW/BMW etc. As long as you have a jack to support the weight of the transmssion the install should be pretty straightforward.
