Dealer and Indy shop both say they don't drain torque convertor
Dealer where I bought car quoted a price of $525 to do trans. fluid change. Well-respected independent shop in New Jersey quoted $465. Both said "we don't drain convertor on 2012 C300 4matic". I don't get it.

I would call Mercedes customer care and ask them why so many dealers don't do it. It's possible that it has been revised by Mercedes as acceptable... long shot. But would be curious as to what they would have to say considering it's their cars they have to warranty due to incorrect service procedures from the dealer possibly.

Wasn't there an actual letter from MB headquarters saying that they needed to drain the converter? Print that out and bring it with you, nothing else to be said with that letter.

Does the torque convertor even have a drain plug? Rather hard to drain without the plug.
FWIW, my '99 722.6 tranny has a drain plug on the convertor. My '05 722.6 torque convertor does not.
There are ways around this but it involve more work. I was reading a post on it in the last few days but don't recall where. Search is all I can recommend.

99.9% sure there is a drain plug. Dealers and techs are being lazy. There are "WIS" documents that clearly state that the TC must be drained and how to do it. See several other threads on this topic in this forum, also reference the switch to new "blue" fluid for the 722.9plus transmission.

It is hit or miss if the tq converter has a drain plug first of all. Only way to know is to rotate it over and look.
Second , blue fluid is in no way compatible with earlier red fluid.

I never said to mix red and blue fluids. 722.9 uses 236.14(red) and 722.9PLUS uses 236.15(blue). 722.9PLUS was introduced mid 2010.
