I have a few friends that had the leather replaced in thier BMW's under warranty with no questions asked. When Mercedes told me to pound sand it was rather suprising to say the least.

That is complete BS! go to another dealer. Those ARE part of the new car and extended limited warranty. I had my GLK and C300 seat bottom replaced a few times because of tearing and everything was under warranty. The GLK was still under the new car warranty and my C300 was on the ELW when it happen. Having wrinkles is one thing but tearing on the seams and flaking is a defect that needs to be fixed under warranty.

If the dealership is not following through on warranty work call Mercedes Benz Corporate and file a complaint...... I'm sure they will jump when they get the call from corporate about unethical practice.
It seems like every dealership has this issues about questioning whats covered or not. Try to call and get a free oil change for your stress (probably won't happen but you can try. hahaha)
i should add corporate takes these reports seriously so if i was you thats what i would of if under warranty.

Bought mine at Terminal ave. I will look for the invoice tonight. That might be including installation but they usually charge minimum 2 hours for any work.

Figured you guys would get a kick out of the response I recieved from Mercedes back when I chose to argue this, I found it to be quite comical!
Anyways, the letter went on to say the following;
"Mercedes will not be honoring your request to repair/replace the drivers seat leather as you have requested. However, because you are a respected member of the Mercedes family, we would like to offer a 50% discount to help return the leather on the drivers seat back to the standard of your choosing. Labor would not be included in the discount and any labor would have to be agreed upon you and the providing Mercedes approved dealer "If you do decide to further our offer and replace the leather, total cost at this time is approx. $600.00. Again, this does not include labor." WTF!......Ummmmm, thanks Mercedes ?

These people do a reasonable repair job. Lasted about 3yrs on mine, until the leatherette cracked again, alongside the repair. Interestingly, the repair guy knew where the the problem was the moment I said its an MB. Lot cheaper than new covers.

$800 WTF! Just buy the cover from the dealer ($298 CAD to be exact) and do it yourself. The seat bottom is only held up with 2 screws and will lift up easily then unplug the heating elements of the seats (This procedure will take only 2 minutes MAX!) Then just unclip the cover from the seat bottom and reinstall the new cover (should only be 10-15 minutes MAX). I just did my seat last week and have received the passenger side seat cover this morning. The dealer is asking for $300 for installation and they reasoned they need to remove the ENTIRE seat. Just imaging the sarcastic laugh I had in front of the service person (which is a good body of mine-can't blame him as he just looks at the computer and there is a indicated work hours supplied by corporate MB on almost all repairs in the system). I told him how long it took me to do the driver seat and he just blushed for looking stupid.

Any chance you could take a look at my post with pic?
I'm trying to understand if I'm past the point of a cover or if I need to replace entire bottom seat.
Thanks.

Hello jules2000, did you ever get your seat cover replaced? I'm dealing with the same issue with my 2008 C350 and just saw a DIY video on youtube which made it seem like a quick 15 minute swap. Lemme know how things turned out for you. Also, if you did, how much did you pay for the seat cover? Thanks.

I ended up buying this. Obviously not as good as a new seat, but no one has noticed it: https://www.amazon.com/EDEALYN-Ultra...ra-luxury&th=1
