Ugh Another problem-- Cig Lighter
Hey guys,
A penny dropped into my cigarette lighter (I know )and it doesn't work anymore. Normally when this happens I just change the fuse and its fine. This time i changed the fuse a couple times and still nothing. Anyone have any ideas what the next step would be?
Thank you!

Well, funny thing, I have the same "problem"
I say that the 1st owner didn't want anyone smoking in the vehicle - same as me, lol
But then I realized maybe I'd like to charge my phone one day...
So how do get it out/why would a penny damage the lighter?

pennys a good conductor because of the copper. I forgot to add It causes a short circuit and blows the fuse. you need to get it out, then change the fuse or it won't work. i'm unsure why it won't work after the penny is out and the fuse is changed lol.

Is it the lighter you are testing with? Many of the 12V plugs have fuses in them also.
I'm surprised Mercedes still puts lighters in their vehicles. My children had never seen one of these things before.
