Gearbox and ecu update and remap

Hi,

i have my car booked in for a remap next week (2009 c220 pre facelift)

I want to get the gearbox softwsre updated from MB also, but will it overwrite the remap or affect it in anyway?

thanks in advance

That's a tuner question----HTF do we know what he is going to screw around with.

PS--I would love to learn how he will gain access to the transmission software, but you should be even more concerned!!

A transmission software update will not overwrite an engine remap.

You don't have to be a dealer to be able to update the transmission software. Independent mechanics can purchase systems from Mercedes-Benz as long as they're properly trained/registered/etc through Mercedes-Benz to perform such service. The specialist I go to that only services German and Swedish makes has the ability to do everything a dealer can do.

Samlauk, transmission is controlled by TCU not ECU so you are fine.

Thing is on these cars the TCU will reset itself as it "learns" your driving behaviour but software updates may help.

I have a 2008 C230 and I think the car shifts too slowly. I performed a TCU reset and it shifted quicker but after a while of driving in traffic ect it seems to go back to slower shifts. Next time my car is in for something at the dealership I will inquire about a software update for my transmission.
