Front license plate mount
Just got my license plate from the DMV. Just wondering how does people have the new C-class mount their front license plate? I really don't want to drill holes on the front bumper to get it mounted. I searched the internet and found this item, but it is designed from Tesla model S. Does anybody know if this would work for the w205. Any idea is appreciated.

What state do you live in? I live in Nevada and even though it's required it's not enforced if that makes sense. Some dealers don't even bother placing the plate holder on front for that reason. I haven't used my front plate for years. In fact I don't even know where it's at I would assume if your state required it and enforced it than the Dealer would have installed the plate holder to comply with the state law.

........CPO coupe purchased 9/2014: front plate in trunk. Still there.
I think it's a fix-it ticket here in the Golden State. Law enforcement probably has more on its' plate as of late.....................

If you parked in downtown Portland, OR, and don't have a front license plate. The police will give out ticket here.

I bought this for my C400, it's a motorized flip down plate braket. They also have non-motorized. I'm picking up my C400 this weekend, after a 3 month wait, so I haven't installed it yet. Hopefully it will work.

This plate retracts in less than 10 seconds, using a remote control. I keep it down, unless parked where I'll likely get a ticket. Photos show plate fully retracted, half-way up, and then final position.
Sorry the car is filthy, it's been a tough winter in the Northeast US.

In france as in the uk you have no choice, I suspect in all eu countries in fact. Here in france not only must you have the front no plate in a specified location in the centre but it must be riveted on not screwed or stuck, no choice and you will be fined if it is not.
Do you not have automatic speed cameras in the usa? We even have cameras which register you at point a and then point b over a specified distance and they check the average speed over that distance. In london apnr cameras, automatic no plate readers, are used to run the congestion charge, using ferries and tunnel between the uk and france the apnr confirms your booking as you check in.......so front no plates here in europe are read all the time!
Speed cameras take a frontal picture of the car as the fine is sent to the registered keeper of the vehicle and that person can refuse to pay if someone else is driving but they then have to give that persons details. The photo enables them and the police to identify the driver.

In the US, the rules vary by state, with many states not requiring a front plate. In New York, front plates are required, but the rules are rarely enforced. In past cars, I have left the front plate off because it is a cleaner look, but once in awhile, I would get a minor summons at my local train station, but it was only $20.

In the US, we have both speed and red light cameras, but they can always read the rear plate as you pass. They are nowhere near as prevalent as in Europe; we don't take kindly to having our privacy invaded and there is a lot of public pushback on politicians to not allow cameras.
