locking trunk/car with keyless-go

If the car is locked you can open the trunk with keyless go by pressing the trunk button on the trunk. But can you lock the car when closing the trunk without digging trough your pockets for the key FOB? Other cars with keyless you can touch the trunk button to lock as you can on the C class when at the doors

Boot lid has two red buttons on inside boot lid one just closes boot the other closes boot and locks the car, not forgetting boot can be opened and closed by 'kicking' below bumper.

That's an option on US built cars ... part of the hands free package. Without it, the trunk can be opened while the car is locked if the fob is with you. The doors stay locked.

The situation that I experience, is I get out of the car, grab something from the trunk and then leave the car. If my hands are full, I have to dig through pocket for key FOB. I guess one option would be to lock the car when exiting to car, then open the trunk and the car should remain locked when I then close the trunk.

Yes, I do that all the time and it works fine.
