The Familiar Sounds Of..... Delay!

So, I ordered my car back in October, the Build was confirmed to me in early December, with a 2nd decade in March and forecast delivery at the end of April (SA shipment to UK).

Figuring that the car should be waiting in the Docks in SA, I contacted my dealer to get shipment details, to get told, proudly, the confirmed Build date is 1st April (April Fools Day!!!) and ETA is now 11th May.

Let's just say I was "less than pleased". For two things; a) Had I not asked, I would not have heard a thing (despite dealer signing off EVERY message with "I will, of course, keep you fully advised") and b) No explanation, whatsoever, why it has slipped by 3 weeks - just a shrug of the shoulders.

From first contact to delivery will, by then, be a full 8 months! This is starting to annoy me now. I don't have anything to give me confidence it won't simply slip again, as others have, in the past. Come on MB, have a heart.

I know what you mean about dealers keeping you up to date. I had to ask every few weeks for an update when the time got closer. I'm fairly sure if I hadn't the car would have been sat in their car park for weeks before they let me know. As they were so busy with handoffs and new sales given it was March delivery/new plate time, they seemed to prioritise on who pestered the loudest. I suppose in fairness I was eager, they were busy and I'd have to say they weren't 'bad' but they weren't 'great' either in terms of communication.

In any event I have it now. I recall a couple of weeks ago being told by the dealer that cars out of SA were being delayed, but as mine was the estate (s205) they're built in Germany and weren't facing the same delays.

What's with the delays in SA? More wildcat strikes?

Given up on a S205 and ordered a S212
Given up on a S205 now, as of yesterday I'm a S212 owner - purely because I could get it in Hyacinth red. Of course delivery roulette still....!
