New Exhaust System?
We've been talking about an improved exhaust system for the C32 for almost two years now. Has anyone found an aftermarket exhaust system? I am ready to pay through the nose for a quad exhaust system but I don't think any of the aftermarket guys are seriously considering developing one for us. Why does the new Nissan Maxima have a better looking exhaust than we do? This is a real downer if you ask me!
Also, while I'm on my soap box, the BMW sales guys are a lot smarter than the Mercedes sales guys. Why you ask? Well, when I bought my E36 M3 Sedan in 1999, there were several thousand dollars worth of aftermarket items available AT THE DEALER through Dinan. Not true for us C32 drivers, we have to go through third party dealers and supplier for all of our parts. Why isn't there a line of Dinan type aftermarket parts available through Mercedes?

I will have the MKB exhaust installed tommorow (headers+cats). It wil not change the look because they told me the AMG rear muffler is well designed at has little or no improvement possibility in terms of power. However it will surely change the sound of the car since the resonator will be cut of. After putting some KM on the car with the new exhaust I will file a report.

Tariq,
See my previous post regarding the two-piece 18" dual spoke AMG wheels. There are several pictures of my car already posted there.

Unfortunatelty the installation has been delayed due to late delivery of UPS. The parts arrived at 3 PM at MB and the head tech decided not to start installation because tommorow is 1st of May and in most European countries this is a holiday. On friday they are closed too so got the car back as I left it this morning. Next week tuesday is the next appointment.
Annyway, I had a look at the headers and cats. They looked fine and they are handmade ! The head mech told me the quality of the materials used was very high.
So ... hang on people ...
As for pricing I suggest you contact Evosport since they are MKB products dealers.

Congrats on the headers Bart!
Just to show everyone what stock C32 headers look like:
The C32 stock header is a log manifold--clearly not equal length. MKB's header is nice, but one pipe appears to be a bit long. Our headers are equal length, equal pressure, and dual-stage ceramic coated to make the air flow faster.
Thanks,
Ben

Thanks

After importing MKB headers, you are looking at roughly 3-4K. Pricing on our headers will be finalized in the next couple weeks;when our headers are finished with production, and available to the public. I anticipate ours being under $2,000, including the resonator bypass pipe!
We will also begin selling our C32 upgrades in performance stages, and have a package price for those who purchase our ODPS w/ IC upgrade, headers, and software. Currently, we are anticipating around $4,500. That makes us $2,500 cheaper than other companies who offer the same power gains; and we don't have to go into the engine to make the power! Just imagine what we will be able to achieve when we do!
Thanks,
Ben

Ben...
Any installers in Ohio? (ie Near Cleveland?)
Can you compare and contrast power gain and $ between your ECU and Pulley+IC vs. Renntech's?
Thanks!
Juan

Ben, that is way too expensive. I was figuring just under $3K for the three items and I'd be giving you a call. Unless this is an installed price it is way too high. Guess I am in the wrong business.

Norm,
If you think that Evosport is expensive, why dont you call some other tuners before making your remarks.
I have done my share of comparing (mainly European companies)and I will tell you that Evosports pricing is more than reasonable.
But don't take my word, go ahead and find out yourselve.
Don't forget ... ponnies are expensive
:p

Jcanabal,
Our pulleys are designed to get more power than any other on the market. Like Renntech and other companies, ours increases the boost by 4 psi. Unlike other companies, we also change the accessory pulleys on the engine in order to avoid overdriving water pump, alternator, power steering pump, etc. The new pulleys are all made from a lighter, high-strength, alloy, which combined with underdriving the accessories (back to their correct speeds) will allow the engine to get more power than other kits. On the same car with the same octane gas, our kit will get more power every time. To top the kit off, we also include an intercooler reservoir upgrade, which adds 6 liters of cooling capacity to the intercooling system. Through testing, we have found that this is a crucial precautionary measure--needed to avoid running lean and detonation. Also, even on the stock C32, you can only get a couple decent runs before the intercooler is heat soaked. With the additional 6 liters we add, the car has much longer, sustainable power. We design all of our modifications to run safely on 91 octane. Customers with access to better gas, will only receive better gains (as Bverotti gained nearly 45hp at the wheels with our pulleys on 98 octane).
Our ECU upgrade is specific to the evosport modifications installed on the car. We will have different software upgrades available, to accomodate our upcoming modifications (cams, intake, intake manifold, and 3.7-3.9L conversion). With our pulleys (w/ IC upgrade), ECU upgrade and headers we are gaining 50hp and 50lbs of torque at the wheels, which is over 60hp at the crank on 91 octane. And as I mentioned before, WE don't need to change the cams to get that. We will also be offering one for the stock C32, however on a stock car, there are less gains to be had. Again, our ECU upgrade is designed to run safe on 91 octane (where others have reported running slightly lean w/ other software). People with access to better gas will have better results.
Our headers, which will be available in 2-3 weeks, will be the ONLY equal length/equal pressure header that we have seen for the C32. Looking in the collector in the the MKB (and others) header, it appears to have ridges, which will create a disturbance in air-flow. Our collectors have a completely smooth transition. We also use a dual-stage cermamic coating, to the same specs as Boeing and Lockheed, to keep the heat from disapating. Doing this (with the right coating) helps the air to flow faster, resulting in more power.
Thanks,
Ben
