Transmission wont shift

I have a 2005 C55 with about 55,000 miles and have experienced on two seperate occasions over the last two months a situation where the car will not shift up or down upon start up. I can not shift with the gear selector or the paddle buttons. In both cases if I stopped the car put it into park, turned it off and restarted, it will then shift normally. Has anyone experienced this and what was the fix. Thanks!!

I would start by getting your codes pulled first: it could be low tranny fluild and or time for a flush/filter change, leaking tranny getting fluid on the conductor plate?

No leaks visible. No messages on information panel. Any suggestions on how to get codes without the dealler. I would like to have info before going there to avoid being taken to the cleaners. Thanks!

hey MAXC55,

saw your post abt your car problems. I have similar with yours. If I down shift my C63 only goes up to 4000 rpm and wont shift up. I have a generic code P0221. I have a brand new throttle pedal but mercedes cannot detect the problem. All I do is restart the car and everythings fine again. CEL come on and off. Any idea? Thanks
