Just ruined my C55 completely
So a few months back I posted about my car being hit and wanting to upgrade to a CLK63 bumper. Every one of you who has done it has had a decent enough experience and for the most part all of your cars (those who post pics) look immaculate and very well put together. Im one of the unlucky ones. I dealt with my shop for over 8 weeks, did a Sand damage claim on top of my collision claim and had the C55 repainted in a beautiful metallic midnight blue/purple. All the work that was done came out great, and then came the bumper upgrade. Now my insurance paid this shop several thousand dollars, and then on top of it the shop asked me to put in around 2500 of my own money. You would expect that this money would assure me a pristine show car. Nope, instead I paid extra to have my car turned into a pile of garbage. The bumper is riddled with gaps and misalignment, the shop screwed my foglights in sideways, SIDEWAYS!!!! They were actually so stupid that they hacked off pieces of the bumper in order to make the fogs fit sideways..because apparently they thought that was the proper way, this caused the chrome bezel that wraps around the foglight to crack off!!!. I am just so depressed and let down. I ruined a car that was absolutely immaculate..other than the front bumper collision. I honestly just don't know what to do. Pretty sure this just completely killed my enthusiasm for these cars that I've loved all my life.

Erm sue them, or tell them they can resource another bumper out of there pocket and do the job properly. If they have done a botch job, and ruined it, that's there fault, its not what you expected or what you asked for.
You got any pictures?

I will be frank with you. Loving something all your life and now this don't help. But say it was a woman you loved dearly to the end of the World and beyond. And one day you woke up and heard she had been raped or met with a tragic accident that required skin surgery to her face and whatever else that appealed to you. Do you just throw all the feelings out the window or you learn to deal with it? Its not much the same comparison but heck what to do. I would have patience and bust the shop's owner for the work. Give him a photo of someone's 55 here with that bumper and tell him redo it. Complain to the insurance as well as to how they could approve of some dumb repair shop to do a job like yours.
I had a car I loved dearly, I admired it one weekend over at work. Sadly 2 days later it was stolen from me and during its time in my hands, I had owned it for 5years restoring it.
The rest of your car is fine. Its just cosmetics that can be dealth with and not a heart surgery (engine transplant) that could go dismally wrong.
Hope you manage. Just give it some time and look at it with a cool mind but don't leave it the way it is. Good luck

If you don't know how to do it...Ask...if they don't know....look around/google if you needta. Doesn't mean you work at a panel beating shop that you gotta use the angle grinder or saw to make things work

man your car looks beautiful.
Think fingers are bad? How about a neighbour friend who's little son thinks your car is a road for his toy car. I have two long scratches on one side of my car from the rear panel to the door. One is deep and the other a bit shallow.

That's another dilemma, I had my original Diamond Black (dark dark blue) mixed with more blue, purple, and added a bit of metal flake for extra shine. However the shop never even told me the paint code or how they went about getting the color. So now in the future if I have any repainting done, it's going to be a complete guessing game for whoever has to do it.
