Even if it can't be titled, there's nothing wrong with it. If it were close to me I might've bought it and stashed it in my garage by now.

I would buy it if it were still available, looks like I could probably get it titled in NJ.
To request a salvage title submitted by an insurance company* for an out-of-state vehicle, you must have the following:
Out-of-state title properly assigned to the insurance company
$60 title fee – no penalty fee on out-of-state title. If there is a New Jersey Dealer Reassignment with a late date, the fee is $25
Completed ISM/SS-61 form, with New Jersey Sales Tax Satisfied stamp
Insurance listing sheet (BA-28), statement from insurance company as to how the vehicle was acquired
If there is a lien on the face of the title, it must be properly satisfied prior to issuance of salvage title
Letter on official letterhead from out-of-state insurance company for each vehicle, stating that they are licensed to do business and write policies in New Jersey. Letter must also include:
Year, make and model
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
An explanation as to why you are requesting a salvage New Jersey title
* Salvage titles will only be issued to out-of-state insurance companies if they are authorized to do business in New Jersey.

Even then, you're subject to possible snags because of the origin of the car. The majority of states will have to punch the VIN into a giant database that checks with government records to make sure the car was imported legally and is thus "safe enough" or "clean enough" for US roads.
Back when this thread started, I called my state's title office with the VIN to see if I could tag it here, but when they asked for the VIN, the system said it wasn't found in their records and is thus illegally imported unless I can provide exception records from when it was imported.

I just talked to DMV here. That last post was actually only for insurance companies. So not applicable. I told her about the VIN not converting, she said asked if it was ever titled to owner, I said no and she said do not buy because there is a skip in title. Converting from salvage to regular title seemed to be no issue.

A friend of mine took it several months ago and listed it on eBay in SC. As far as I know it was sold. Not sure what state it went to though.
