Leaking oil from oil filter?
just changed the oil 2 weeks ago and noticed it's leaking from the top of the oil filter cap? Looks like it's sweating. I tightened it when I changed the filter but not sure what's going on? Anyone have this issue?
Filter was Mercedes oem.
here are some pics

filter housing leak? Need assistance
Looks like it's the filter housing. I haven't even driven the car since I changed the oil. All I've done is start it up and let the oil cycle with a couple of revs here and there.
Could it be those 2 gaskets on the piece that's connected to the housing?
Or could it be I didn't tighten the cap properly even though it was snug. Cap gasket?
im desperate guys.

Yep I used a bosch oil filter that came with all the gaskets and I replaced them when I installed it.
i don't think this is serious but it's annoying.
is there a gasket in the housing cap where the filter goes?

It's be top o ring gasket, as soon as there is pressure it spits that top gasket out and oil comes out the top.
mot the oil cooler thank god
mayne it's not tight enough? 25 nm pressure which is about 15lbs

So what happened was when I changed it a couple of weeks back I changed all three gaskets that come with the filter but I didn't see a gasket that was left on there from before. Funny I actually removed 3 so the previous owner actually had 4 on there and this one was preventing the cap from seating properly on the filter housing, thus leaking and spitting oil out everytime there was oil pressure.
And you're right, hand tight is all you need. EVerything is all good. I am just glad it wasn't the oil cooler or somthing a bit more serious.

Arrr, no, hand tight it NOT all you need, 25nm is what Mercedes Benz specify, and 25nm is what you need.
Just because it doesnt leak does not mean it is done up properly. Why even chance it?
It always makes me laugh when people ignore torque specs like they know better, and they always wonder why when they have un-explained issues.
If you blokes think youre smarter than the manufacturers, go right ahead

Well i tend to agree with that last bit there, ive replaced almost everything on my C43, and almost everything was fine before. It all lasted 18 years without issues, so it might go another 18 without another cent spent. If nothing else, ive got a pile of good spares sitting here if i need them
