2014 E63 AMG S 4MATIC
New guy here

Hello everyone,

I just purchased a 2016 C63 AMG in Iridium Silver this past Sunday. Car is a blast. Came from a 2010 Mitsubishi Evolution X. First German car. I'll be spending some time reading through the forums before asking stupid questions that must have been answered numerous times. Excited to see what this car can do.

This is probably one of the first Non-S W205 AMG I have seen.

I thought about getting the S but this one came loaded with extra goodies. As for the small loss in power and tq a simple ECU flash would correct that. This is my first silver car so it's something new but def love it. Much easier to maintain.

Congratulations.
Silver is very much an easy to clean colour and looks great on the c63.
What extras did you get?

Will be interested to hear your views on how the c63 compared to your Evo X. Especially, power, drive, handling and build.

I enjoy reading any questions and answers, and even if they have been asked before, its good to have refreshers!

Agreed on the comparo. Lightweight AWD vs "solid" RWD haha. Congrats on the new ride. These cars are something else. I came from a G37, myself.

2014 E63 AMG S 4MATIC
The car came with the 19" AMG Twin 5 spoke wheels, the lighting package, multimedia package, the black leather, Parktronic, and the rear view camera plus a few extra things but those were the major stuff.

As for now here's my beginning comparison.

Drive: The Evo made 430 whp on pump with cams and a stage 4 clutch. The Evo ride was harsh. Lots of chatter, especially in bumper to bumper traffic. Incredibly loud (AMS exhaust w/high flow cat). Lots of rattling in the interior. Blue tooth was useless in the cabin. Hearing the turbo spool was very enjoyable. Bumps are about the same with the C63. C63 much more enjoyable, very smooth, great exhaust note. Surround sound is also awesome. Not much to admire in the Evo for the looks (Bought for play not looks).

Power: Off the line launching the Evo takes off quick. I haven't used launch control on the C63 but going WOT in 1st in manual mode was better than anticipated. Turbo lag is felt more in the C63 than in the Evo. After 4th gear the Evo doesn't have any power left to give. The C63 keeps building more power. TQ wise the Evo was contained at 330 tq to save the motor. Stock motors can't handle more than 400 tq. C63 is so torquey especially in sports + it's nuts it makes you want to red line it all the time. First gear through second not a lot of power. Doesn't pull as hard. 3rd-4th gear Evo starts to rip it up. The C63 has a more smooth power band than the Evo.

Handling: As of now they both handle almost the same. The Evo X hugs the road and corrects any mistakes with its SAWD computer system (up to 50% to the rear). For the C63 I've taken a few hard turns and the car does a great job staying in line and not fish tailing it everywhere. The Evo though wins in attacking corners the C63 is too big to take corners as hard and weighs a bit more (least 500 lbs more).

Build: Overall Evo build contained full turbo back, intake, intercooler w/piping, turbo, exhaust manifold, cams, injectors, pumps, H&R springs and supporting mods. Stock motor.

The C63 overall taps into its power quicker than my Evo. Upshifts are quick and down shifts are just as fast and with sports + that rev matching is incredible. The stock tq on the C63 is ridiculous and makes the tires spin all day. As much as I loved my Evo the power of a RWD with massive torque is much more enjoyable and forces me to be a better driver and not rely on the computer to correct my every mistake.

This is my initial reaction for having the car less than a week. After I've driven it for a few months I can test how hard I can hit corners, how fast I can get off the line, and anything else I can think of.

Great, thanks for the comparison. Excellent points.

Very interesting to hear about the turbo lag comparison too. I'm still in the running in phase, so I haven't really noticed any real lag, save that Comfort seems a lot slower to pick up (so that's either lag or just tethered throttle response) than Sport+. I've not tried Race mode yet either.

Agreed on the TQ and tyres spinning. On a cold road it can even spin up in Comfort mode.

I feel you in the comfort mode. It takes a split second for it to kick in but in Sports + if you're driving really slow the car feels like it wants to roar to life.
