Thinking of getting MBH Headers...worth it for a guy who doesnt track his car?

Ahhhh, a more accurate post...Thoughts from people who have purchased these headers for their C63? I am referring to the ones that bolt on. I am debating whether to pull the trigger after James from ACG brought them up as a possible bolt-on mod...

For a guy who owned one of the SICKEST E55's I think this is a very fitting mod for the new car.

IMHO, if you are into performance modding, then MBH headers combined with a tune enters that "no-brainer" territory. You won't need to track your car to make use of the added power and responsiveness. Search this board for sound clips...I went the quiet route, retaining both primary (replacement) and secondary (OE) cats but you can go from mild to wild in the aural department. PM me with your number if you need some more feedback, good luck with your decision and you are in good hands with James!

I've had these headers installed(direct bolt on) for a few months
and I am very happy with my Eurocharged tune/MBH header combo.

The headers are a work of art and the welds are flawless. The
product is very well made and should last a long time without
any probems. MBH does give a lifetime warranty on the headers.

I track my car often but the car is surprisingly mild mannered on the
street unless you drive it hard, than its a different story. I have the
catless setup with test pipes that can be swapped out for cats if
I choose. Cold start is a little rough and my neighbors can't believe
that sound could ever come from a Mercedes.

I'll post a video of a cold start and maybe a fly by video too when I
get a chance. Right now I'm dealing with 2 feet of snow so the videos
may be a while.

Dang, 2-ft., huh? That's quite a bit of snow to work around. At least from my Southern California Desert perspective. haha

Anyway, drive safe and hopefully you don't have to do any digging to get your car drivable.

Tell me about it. I was out and about the next day although it
was a little tough getting around. C mode and winter tires helped
immensely.

Glad to hear it. And yes, I would be in "C" mode as well.

Cold start is night and day but I'm catless. My car is stock from the
resonator back to the tips. Once the bark of cold start dissipates
the car sounds a little louder than stock at idle. Revving and WOT
are pretty loud. If your just installing headers and leaving cats I
would think it would be pretty quiet, just not as quiet as stock.

Headers only were $3499
Mid-pipes, test pipes and hi-flow cats were $800

ACG NY installed everything in one day for $575.

Your welcome.

I'll be getting a custom Eurocharged tune done in the near future
to further my gains. The custom tune along with an Evosport pulley
and lightweight mods(hood and wheels) I'm hoping to run low 11's
this spring.

My car has both P & S cats. Idle is essentially identical to stock and driving around town in traffic still yields an OE-like sense of refinement. Moderate application of throttle starts to turn heads on the street and wide-open throttle will attract the attention of nearby LEO's. I'm of the camp that believes it's possible to drive much faster in real world conditions by being stealthy, so that was my goal in retaining a fully-catted setup re. noise control. So, if you're like me this setup is an excellent happy medium.

Initially, when I had the headers and mid-pipes installed(no cats) I was
like Wow! this is too loud but over time I've grown accustomed to the
sound and actually prefer it. Also, I have received many compliments from
random people regarding the sound.

Cold start is still excessive, especially at 6:30 in the AM. I've seen a
couple of window shades come up out of curiosity.

No problem. Its just a matter of whether I want to put the $$$ into this or into something else for the car...but impressed with what I have heard so far (both in youtube clips and from current owners of your products).
