2012 headlights on older model?

I think this has been brought up once, but can't seem to find the thread. With a side by side comparison it seems that someone could easily change 2012 headlights into an older model. New hood, new lights along with the housing and I think it would be pretty simple. Only problem I could see is wiring. Didn't they just chop a bit of the light off of the older model and give it some led's. Any one else see this?

It might be possible. Though for a perfect fit it might include changing the fenders and bumper as well. We'll know when the guys receive their first cars

I am really looking foward seeing someone retrofit the new headlights. I think it can be done without spending over 3500

You'll also need a new hood.

thank you but still waiting on the programing to be sorted. Dome said there was only like 1 person in the world who had this figured out. Don't want rear fogs to always be on.

No way to know for sure right now but the fenders look the same. I think you should wait till the models come in and then talk to a reputable tech at a dealer so that he can tell you if the wiring is any different.

Like another memeber said... not even close. THe headlights alone will cost around that much. Imagine what a new aluuminum AMG hood costs!? the hood alone has be around $2-3k, then you gotta prime it, paint, at an pro body shop. Honestly, even though it looks easy, it wont be. I would budget more like $7500...

Id say you would probably need a new radiator support/header panel. Numerous clips, bolts, screw, etc.. Harness, some coding to make the headlights function properly. May be close to $5-7k job when done. Not really worth it. New nose looks "soft" compared to our current. the rear bumper, and tail lights are a much better update though.

Parts.com list our headlights at $1850. each, hood $1880. Dealer price, thats almost $7000 right there.

I meant 3500 euros. And I think that as soon as the facelifted model is out someone will make and sell carbon fibre hood for facelifted model, and its going to sell for about 1000eur. Assuming the new headlights wont cost more then current headlights all together wont add up to more then 4000euros.

headlights 2500euros and carbon fibre hood 1000 and paint job couple hundred so I don think its going to cost more then 4000eur at most. But I might be wrong=)))

It's kind of early to make an estimate for the necessary parts but It will only make sense if you live in a country where there is extreme tax on cars and a C63 is 150-200k dollars. If you live in the states, you can sell your old car and buy a 2012.

Well with all the options I have on the car, it costs around 140k dollars. I just like the headlights - tailights and I wouldnt buy the faclifted model just because of the lights so it makes sense for me to retrofit them. I am going to wait if AMG ends up producing C63 BS then I am going to pull the trigger.
