Windshield Clear Bra or Clear Film

Anyone know if there is a windshield clear film that protects? What's it called and who sells it?

TIA

None of the films are clear enough to prevent distortion of your visibility as far as I know. Anyway, that's what glass insurance is for.

I remember overhearing my clear bra guy mention something about it existing, but that he had never done it or seen it. Thats true about VentureShield, its too distorted. But I thought I would see if members know for certain....

I feel like wiper use would screw it up eventually, no?

I had "diamond coating" put on my windshield by the dealer ... so far so good (knock on wood) ... Its my daily driver and i've been through winter ... slights dots from rock chips but nothing more.

It makes the windshield very very slick and clear when wipers are on.
It includes a replacement guarantee ... so trouble free for me was the key.

Check out ClearPlex. There was another brand (I don't think it was ClearPlex, but I could be wrong) in last months Motor Trend / Car and Drive / Road and Track magazine. They had a full page ad. I'll hunt around and see if I can find it.

Reason obviously being that its so much easier to protect than to replace. It would exactly like tint material just clear. Something is better than nothing especially with our "soft" glass

Who makes the films that go on iPAD and smartphone touch screens? 3M?

I was told at the mobile gadget store that they come in 3 "immunities" but the toughest one is as transparent as the others.

So far the one on my iPAD is doing its job.

Perhaps this material could become the solution.

It's better that putting one of those Buick hood deflectors on the front of the car so the OleFart can see the moths, frogs and june bugs sail over the roof on the way to see that Space Shuttle fire up.

Unless of course we could have the deflector made up in....OMG...carbon fiber... by some enterprising firm in Florida, perhaps?

There is a film available for this exact purpose and my clear bra guy used to install it. The clarity was excellent and it really worked to protect the glass. Unfortunately he stopped carrying it because the distributer was a PITA and could never get him the product. I'll ask him for the name/brand and post it up.

^^^^ My clear bra guy said the same thing! For some unknown reason, people don't want to carry it or make it a jem to get a hold of...strange. You would think it's flying off the shelves...

Just imagine those wiper blades scrapping across, after 1000 swipes, it would be pretty distorted don't you think?

Yes. It will not last forever and depends on how dirty your windshield is when you apply the wipers and how you care for the film will depend on how long it looks good. Dirt is what scratches the film not the rubber or silcone blades.

Many customer would rather replace the film than replace a windshield. Remember over time the glass gets little chips or sandblasted if you plan a keeping your vehicle it may be worth the investment. You can not have your cake and eat it to Even if we can send folks to the moon
