Any chance of a comand update including live traffic?
I was curious to know if there was any chance MB would send out a COMAND update to include live traffic/weather for the W204's? I find it annoying that in my C63, I don't have this basic feature that is found in so many other cars with navigation systems....

This thread piqued my curiosity so I figured it was worth asking:

Not a chance, and even if they did. They would probably charge us a few hundred to do it. Our Nav system is garbage in comparison to even some Hyundais out there. Ford even has a better unit than us..

It's not surprising when the Japanese blow away the competition with Nav/Stereo/Phone etc. But when US manufacturers start to best the Germans, you have to wonder who's getting conned.

My research indicates that if you upgrade to the 2010 W204 Sirius module with two IDs and have a semi-current version of the COMAND system, you'll get live traffic. My dealer also researched this for me, performed a COMAND update to the latest last month, and said the difference is the Sirius module. It's not cheap and north of $1k for the module/tuner.

I love my '09 but I'm starting to feel like I should have waited for a 2010...just the little things like this that you really appreciate (ipod/comand interface, live traffic, cooler side view mirrors!)
BTW I saw the C63 coupe in person last night at the auto show...nice interior but aesthetically, it ain't got nothin' on us sedans!

the 09 doesn't have an ipod interface? Really? My 2009 e350 did. So you have to control your ipod, through the ipod?

It does but you cannot control thru comand, only thru the small screen on the instrument cluster. It is so ridiculous and annoying, I don't even know where to begin.

yesh, 2010 comand system in my e has live traffic, but you have to pay for it. bah. the system interface is pretty good, no lockup in motion if you use the voice commands.

This is not completely accurate. I retrofitted the Universal Communication Interface (UCI) into my 2009 US Spec C63 and had the dealer code option 518 on the audio control module (they did it for free). After that I installed the MIP after that to get Pandora integration. My 2009 C63 now operates like a 2010 C63, though I do not have live traffic though because of my Sirius tuner.

How much did all of this cost you?

I dislike that it is not plug and play for the 09. You have to jump through hoops to get the UCI to work on the '09 and shell out $1K to add fuctionality that should have been stock.
