First 1/4 time

I took my car to Capitol Raceway in MD last month and did 12.31 @ 115mph with 1.87 60'. This was done on 93 octane with just a Eurocharged tune on Falken street tires. Still at work so I'll post up the slip later. This is my first time with this car at the track but it's not my first time racing. I plan on getting a set of Nittos DRs. It was spinning out pretty bad. At that trap speed, I think I can get a better ET. I had a total of three runs and this was the best one.

R/T .78
60' 1.871
330 5.264
1/8 8.033
MPH 89.65
1000 10.392
1/4 12.315
MPH 115.55

I've always read that stock C63's dyno's in the 12.3-4 range...how is it that a tuned C63 is not running lower ETs? Is it just a traction issue?

There're so many variables in tuning the car, he said last month, chances are weather was warm DA wasn't great..

Launching the car on street tires is also a bit tough..

The fact that he only got 3 runs is huge it takes a handful just for the ecu to optimize the shift points and all I'd say a min of 8 runs before it gets good.. Unless the whole way to the track you abuse the car making it shift at redline in gears 1-4 which is tough

Thanks dodger63!

It was warm but wasn't really hot. I didn't beat the car on the way there. My purpose for the passes was to see the trap speed. ET can improve once I get better tires and get used to driving the car more at the track. I'm confident I can get the ET to lowered. These tires don't hook when they are hot so I need some DRs.

Nice job!

DR's will help you.

As dodger said the ECU takes a few passes to adapt. I have no doubt
your trap speeds would have been better if you had more runs.

Nice times, what was the DA during those runs? and off-topic but is all DA equivalent or some components worst than others and is that factored in like elevation or humidity over temperature

Thanks PetroC63!

Ghazan- I went on Dragtimes.com and they dont have any info for the time I was racing at instead the closest info they have was a few hours later at 924pm. So I just click on that and got -271 DA. To be honest, I dont really go by DA. Your car's power can change anytime. Other factors such as conditions, driving technique, etc.. play a huge role also. I'll make sure to get a few more passes in next time. Capitol is not a great track to go to because the track prep is horrible and lots of cars break which cause you to wait forever.

Good run! I have a question about the ECU adjusting. How long does it take for it to get back to normal. Since I drive my car only on Sundays, it has a week long time to reset itself. I drive mostly in Sport, and after I warm up the car I like to hard accel from stop. It then changes my shift pattern to around 2.1k to 2.3k rpm, when usually it shifts around 1600-1900 rpm. It stays like this all day till I drive it again on next Sunday.

Great job, OP! Congratulations on getting out there and seeing what your car can do.

With some little tweeks here and there, your times and trap will likely improve.

The ECU adjusts to your driving habits. It will go back to normal if you
drive it that way.

That's actually a good time for tune-only on street tires and no race gas. And the 1.87 60' on street tires is very respectable, congrats

With drag radials I use traction control off and sport mode.

Occasionaly I use manual mode but it's very tough to time the
shifts because redline comes so fast and if you're late you will
hit the rev limiter.

The ECU has to be programmed to take advantage of it.

I had a Eurocharged tune and used race gas and showed no gains.

My curent MHP tune responded well to race gas at the last track
event.

Bought a set of headers from Vivid and Nitto's DRs. Once I get everything installed and send the ECU to Jerry for reflash. I'll post up new times. Hopefully it wont be too hot by then lol

Good!

Keep us posted.

You should probably get the DR's mounted and go back to the
track first. This should put you in the 12.0 to 12.1 range and
a 1.7 60'.

My plan are to use my street tires up then put on the DRs. Hit up the track and then put the pipes on. So just like you, maybe in the Fall when it's nice and cooler lol
