Rear Bumper Queation
Well after work today I went to visit a friend of mine and had to park in a parking garage. Well I have parked there before and noticed these steel piller holding up the second story. In stead of checking my passanger mirror I was to busy looking at the car on the driver side and backed in to one of the pillers . Now my question is has any one been this stupid yet and had to replace there rear bummper? If so how much do you think a rear bumper would cost? Its just the bumper luckily nuthing else so I jus wanted to get a price in my mind before I take it to a body shop to be fixed. I attached a picture I took with my phone, Its hard to see but it craped down to the platic an a small dimple is sticking out.

It looks like a repaint is what you need, not a new rear bumper. Sorry to hear the incident though.

Thanks for the in put I thought I need a whole new bumper, is was only 2-4 mph and I don't have the back up sensers so I'm hopping it can just be sanded down remolded? I'm going to call a body shop today and see if I can get an estimate.

Federal laws (from the USDOT and NHTSA) mandate that bumpers be able to take a hit at 5mph and remain fully functional, including all sensors (now if only they could add survivable paint damage to that list )

Well I went in for an estimate and the quoted me $1900, I did notcie thet they did it for the parktrronic bumper witch I don't have. The bumper coast $915 MSRP with parktronic but I found the one I need for $572. So I figure between the cheasper price of the bumper and less labor for the non parktronic it should be around $1200. there gose the money I have been saving for a tune and headers.
I was hoping they could heat it up and re mold the dimple, but they said since its an AMG and what not they would much reather replace the bumper so that it looks normal and noy just sanded, bondid, and painted. The place I brought it to is MB certified and do great work so I guess its a lil over priced for the job but I want it done right so I'm going to need to pay for my stupid mistake.
A littkle pluse is that they said they will re spray my carbon fiber spoiler for me for free cause there is a faded spot on it and some clear coat is comeing off.

If it's my car, if it's not cracked, I won't replace the bumper. A good body shop can repair it easily. It's just the rear bumper so many body shop can repair it, don't really need a certified MB shop.

I may bring it to another body shop, the only thing is I'm nervious that they won't match the color or not line up. The only other decent body shop I know had problems realing my brothes bumper on his bmw 335xi. Pluse I am very annal about my car so I know if there even a shade off on color or a 1/4 inch off I'm not going to be happy that's the only reason I would like to bring it to a certified MB shop.
