Would I be crazy to own this car out of warranty?
Here's my situation, My C63 has 48.5k miles on it and the warranty expires at 50k. I plan on keeping it another year or so and another 12k(or so) miles. Should I be expecting any major issues keeping it without warranty or should I be good since it's only a year? TIA.

Good question. My guess would be the powertrain will be safe. The rest of the car is anyones guess. But, I don't have faith in MB's build quality of the rest of the car. I've had too many warranty repairs needed.
The good side of that is that I have many new parts on my car. Bad side is that's it's been a real PITA to visit the dealer so many times.

I think your dealer can extend your warranty if you do it before 50K or are the original owner from a certified MB dealer. Not cheap but may give some comfort and increase the value of your car at trade/sale.

I wouldnt own any AMG out of warranty. My E63 trans failed at 900 miles. It was covered but the cost was around $18K I believe to fix it... And that was internal warranty pricing. Get piece of mind and buy the extension if your concerned. There are plenty of external places that offer extended and some are very reasonable. Its a gamble either way I suppose.

It does not appear that the car has a bad rep when it comes to failures. The only two transmissions I know of that needed to be replaced are Josh and Dad. The cars were taken beyond the norm of being stock or even mildly modified.
If you absolutely want to sleep at night, get an extended warranty from MB. If you plan on selling your car rather than trading it, this is worthy.
You know how you treated your car. If you are like most of us. Drive it hard but no stupid abuse, I would take a chance and let it go w/o warranty

I'll probably just gamble on it then, I've heard the cheapest extended warranty on these things is like 5k. Now that I live closer to work and will drive less miles I want to lease a car but want to wait until the new C350 and 335i come out. I was hoping to hear from someone with 50k+ miles but there probably aren't many out there with that much as these cars are still quite new. As far as mods go the car is completely stock all the way to the orange reflectors so it should be okay...

If you owned an E55 or S55 etc then I might be a bit hesitant to keep it without a warranty. So far, the naturally aspirated C63 appears to be pretty bullet proof. Just like its predecessor C55

People here swear up and down that the engine is bullet proof but again, there are really not many owners with high mileage C63s so is hard to tell.
I don't see why a top quality hand built engine wouldn't last you a few years before it starts giving you some issues.

In Cali you can buy the factory extended warranty up until the date or milage of the original warranty. I forgot how much it cost, but I believe it is transferrable. So when you go to sell the car it will be with the factory extended warranty. I don't know if the law in Florida is the same.
