Carbon / Black Dust on rear bumper , too much?
After searching on the forums I have read that it is a common thing to get a black carbon (oil burn, fuel, etc) on the rear bumper. The dealer tells me its a common thing for the AMG 63s which I believe. He also says it could be tire or brake dust. Thats fine and all but I think mine may be a bit excessive.
Here is how bad (or not bad mine is)...
If I was to clean the rear bumper, trunk lid (car is white so easier to see) after about 20 miles of driving it would be visible closely and if you ran your finger over you would have a black finger tip. After 100 miles the car behind me would be able to see it and its pretty much covered the whole back of the car.
I now keep a microfiber towel and bottle of Meguiars Quick Detailer in the back just to clear it off every day because it bothers me so much.
Am I being too picky or is it a possible my car has something wrong with it. Its a 2010 with 5k miles.

go get that checked out by a performance shop. I dont know what it is with mercedes service departments and the c63, but on several occasions they have told me that something was "normal" my suggestion: either go to a top end performance shop or get in the service advisers face.
I have a tune on my c63 and it burns alot more gas and the exhaust tips turn black but nothing like what you described. So.....it is not "normal"

Im not worried about it being dirty. I can clean that up. I have owned many cars and never had one as bad as this including my Ferrari which tends to spit some black.
Here is a picture after 30 miles or normal highway driving, it was completely clean before the 30 miles.
Again just want to make sure its normal because for any of my other cars this would not be normal at all...including the aftermarket turbod 350z which was running VERY rich.

It is normal. It is not exhaust (well, a tiny amount of it might be) - it is just crap in the air and what is blown up off the road. Most recent (i.e., aerodynamic) cars have this issue. My parents' Avalon has it much worse.
I use a car duster - much faster than the detail spray.

Definitely normal... I get that on mine after 1 km of driving around my block after a car wash... it is so annoying though. My advice is to get a California duster*... it works magic (no scratches) & saved me a lot of car washes.
* Only use the duster on dusty car, not dirty car.

Ok good! I dont really plan to keep the car past the warranty period anyway but just wanted to make sure that the car was in good shape since I just got it and dont know how it was treated before.
Thanks for all the input. Makes me feel more comfortable.
