Media Interface plus, not possible on 09 model?
I have my car at the dealer and asked them to put this option in so I can listen to my Iphone app stations.
They told me this morning that it does not work on my 2009, only 2010 and up???
What's up with that?
I have the Ipod integration kit which is just a ridicules short wire from the glove box to which the Iphone can be connected but does not charge and again, its too damn short!
The option of bluetooth with the anystream kit while convenient i dont think the quality will be good enough for me.
Any suggestions, Ideas? Thanks for your help.

It is possible, but very expensive, and involved. A member here did the retrofit.

This would defintely **** me off. I think by MY13, it will be a standard option. It always surprises me how Mercedes can build the worlds best cars, but their electronics suck.
I just watch a commercial for the new Buick Regal Turbo, now that entertainment system, is voice activated. Mercedes needs to step their game up, big time.

A good thing its not my dd plus most of the time I actually prefer to listen to the engine and the exhaust anyway but it would have been nice.

I know the frustration, when I bought my MIP, trying to get the thing to synchronize up was a huge pain in the a**. Finally one the salesman, had one in his C350, problem solved and I absolutely love it now. especially having all my phone contacts loaded was great. An dlistening to Pandora is a plus. But no text or email capability sucks. MB will probably come out with another deice and charge us $$$ for it.

You CAN add bluetooth streaming to the MMI - just attach the AnyStream. For a very small amount you canhave bluetooth streaming on any iPod cable equipped Mercedes from 2003 on up.

You'll find posts about here if you look, but I'm running the BlackBerry music gateway.. Basically it connects to to your aux plug (hidden for some years/options/random, mine was). Basically I get into the car, my phone connects to both the car phone BT and the BT gateway hidden in my glovebox.. Anything I play on the phone plays thru the AUX.. Pandora, native music player, etc.
You won't have the same pretty integration as MIP but it does the job wirelessly.

You can buy an updated cable or use an adapter that MB makes that will allow it to charge.

Just so you know, the Anystream supports 318kbps. It is a very rare person indeed that can even tell it is being stream via bluetooth....and if you are going to listen to Pandora, Sirius/XM or any other 3G/4G application, they max out at 72kbps - So the AnyStream is a really good option.... it does have a 100% money back guarantee.

The nice thing about the command system, is that while it does tie into some aspects of the car (most notably the dash screen), it is a self contained unit and can be replaced.
You can probably shoehorn a later MY command unit into our car, and find a friendly dealer to code it for you.
If you have the skills and the money, you can replace the entire unit with something more to your liking. At some point, I plan on replacing the command unit with a custom carpc, and a touch screen using one of the many carpc applications out there.
This will allow me to get better GPS mapping, real time updates, streaming music, and pretty much anything else.. I may make it tablet based since the HP touchpad is on firesale and there is currently a project going on to get Android on it.
My wifes infiniti has the hvac controls built into the touch screen system (even though there are buttons to control it, all visuals are on teh screen). This makes it impossible to replace.

Question about AnyStream. When I'm connected to AnyStream via bluetooth, my phone will not be connected to my car, am I correct? So basically while listening to music, my phone will not work with the car?

No, it all depends on the phone, most phones can pair with multiple devices simultaneously. So while you are connected to the anystream device using the BT audio profile, you should still be able to be connected to the car using the BT hands free profile.

Correct, I have yet to meet a phone that could not do both a Telephonic connection and a A2DP connection simultaneously. If one exists, it would also be a phone that is not capable of storing music...so sort of a moot point.

one problem I see with Anystream is that it drains battery faster while MIP also charges your phone. If you were to go on a road trip, you would need to find a way to charge up your phone while listening to music.

That would be true, on a long road trip, you would need to recharge your phone - and of course that is phone dependent.
Real world use of my iPhone 4, with Wifi turned off, and constant phone calls coming in (8-10 per hour is typical for me), I can stream wirelessly Pandora or Sirius for 6 hours non-stop and have about 25% battery left. Of course, that is also bluetooth through the car on all the calls too.
