Did a burn out today...

turned off ESP and stomped the gas pedal in M1. It seems I might have an LSD in my car - 2 lovely rubber tracks left in the parking lot.

Any other possible explanation? Does the stock open diff ever lock up or is it purely a 1 wheel at a time? If the car does have an LSD, how do I tell if it's the MB or 3rd party?

i have tried the method of rolling the tires while both rear wheels are off the ground, if it rotates the same way, i was told that it means it does have an LSD, if both wheels rotate at opposite directions or one wheel does not move, it means it is an open diff. I tried it after my Quaife went in and indeed those directions were to be found true.

MB
Even with an open diff the C63 has the ability to leave two tracks, but you can't count on that happening consistently. More often it will leave one track.

.
No LSD. With my few burnouts, I always leave two tracks.

Yes. If you have similar tires and you are headed absolutely straight forward, two tracks are likely. Slight turn in direction and one track happens more often.

Put one tire in the dirt and one on clean dry pavement and see what happens.

If you get a bunch of rock chips and scratches on the dirt side you have an open diff. If in addition to the scratches you smell nasty clutch burning and your diff starts to leak oil, you have yourself a new LSD in a few weeks, cause your first one is shot.

I'm taking the car in Sat morning to get winter wheels and tires put on so I'll try to spin the rears while it's on the lift and see what happens.

I tried the same with my old CLK 55 AMG and direct get an error code. Didn't know which one it was but that isn't a good idea

Def not LSD - on the hoist I spun 1 wheel, the other went opposite direction. Oh well... Kewl that it will do 2 wheels tho in a straight line.
