Media Interface Cable and iPhone 4S Charging
Hi All,
I've done some forum research, but don't seem to be able to answer my question. My 2010 came with the 518 option including the dual Apple and Aux output cables (A-0018276904). When using a first generation iPod, all the functions including iPod charging work fine.
However, I'm now drinking the iPhone Kool-Aid and purchased a 4S. All the functions work great, but the phone won't charge. I understand there is an updated cable (A-0018278404) that apparently has a pin-out change that allows for charging on later generation iPods and newer iPhones. If I purchase this cable will I still have all the functionality I have thru the Command head unit??
Also, I looked at a YouTube video of the newer Media Interface Plus. It doesn't seem to offer any charging except thru the mini-USB for other phones. Does it do what my current interface does, while also charging the phone??
Thanks,

Odd, I am guessing you still have the old cable with the white plug, as mine has the newer cable with the black connecter and it charged my 4S.

If you get a chance, you could get the part number off your cable. I'd be curious what part number it is.
Thanks.

Ok, I just tested it with my 4S and it charged. Here is the exact labeling on my cable:
A 001 827 85 04
MI - iPod / AUX
37.09 / 940120
And yes, this is the one has an aux input (as labeled), but I don't remember how to get to the dev menu to get you my COMAND hardware and firmware versions.
Hope this helps,
