NAV/Sirius questions

Has anyone tried to upgrade their navigation software? Can you get traffic instead of subscribing to SiriusXM Traffic? I'm just wondering what that entails and how much it might cost to see if it's worthwhile at all. I'm guessing it should be easier with the HD onboard, but I don't have much experience with these devices.

Thanks.

I have upgraded the COMAND Software, but no the NAV Software for a Media Interface Plus (MIP) update. The only way, that I'm aware of for traffic updates is thru Sirius/XM. Their might be a app for smartphones, but I'm not currently aware of any. Sirius/XM is only a $3 more a month.

Did you do this yourself manually?

That's what I'm trying to weigh. Some people are less than thrilled with Sirius Traffic and since I'm on a trial right now, I would need to pay $100 to go with a full plan + traffic since there's no traffic add-on to the free trial. So I think that's a steep gamble for something that may suck.

Yes, using a thumb drive, with the cable that came with the MIP. Basically, it just tells the COMAND, that it has an additionable functions.

$100 for the full plan, I only pay $14 a month per each car. and traffic is an extra $3. I thought traffic was a waste of time for me, since I travel on the same road everyday to work.
