This SUCKS! Need advice ...
Hello Friends!
First of all, thanks for such an informative forum! MBWorld has become a daily visit because of all of your posts/advice/questions/pics etc.
Now my problem:
I recently leased a 2012 C63 and now need to get out of it due to a job relocation. I wish I could take the car with me, but I cannot. THIS SUCKS.
What are my viable options? I've researched several lease/swap companies but I'm really in a time crunch and think this option may take a while. I've also listed the car on my local C'list. I'm considering listing it in AutoTrader too ...
What would you recommend if I need to quickly get out of this lease?
THANKS in advance for all of your input!

I would recommend asking your employer for some relief relative to life changes to support the move. Just as many companies will buy your home and handle the sale, same deal.
In parallel - swapalease.com, leasetrader.com - lots of people like taking over leases - great way to avoid $ out of pocket and reduce the term of the lease for guys who like to change cars every 12 or 24 months. Just make sure you do your homework to make the numbers competitive....you'll see cars sitting there for months and months because the owners are just out of touch - no one is going to pay $1300 a month for 42 months with 800 miles per month left on the lease, get real. Make the #'s attractive.
Also after looking at the link - the car is not fully loaded. Being very specific and informed about the car will help it move. Having 42 months on the lease may hurt you, you may need to throw an incentive in there, or frankly, just list the car for sale for $62k or something really attractive and just eat the buyout difference.

Problem is that you want someone to take over a lease payment as if it were a new car, which it no longer is. If I was a potential buyer/lessee, what is the benefit in my leasing a fully stock used C63 at a monthly lease rate of a brand new one? You have to incentivize someone to take over your car so they dont have to go to a MB dealer and just get a brand new one off the lot.
I am also curious why 6 months ago you would lease a car for 4 years, and then all of a sudden get a job relocation out of nowhere that makes having this car untenable. It's like the other poster (who also had a 48 month lease) who said he was getting rid of the car after 6 months because it wasn't his wife's style. Just seems like an emerging trend of people getting 2012 C63s and suddenly needing to drop them for various reasons after only a few months.

Thanks for the replies thus far ... great advice.
I've updated my post to include a cash incentive AND have lowered my purchase price.
I leased this vehicle expecting to stay with the terms, but having a new job is forcing me into this situation. The downside if losing the car, the upside is a better job.

Leasing is just another way of financing. He could buy out the lease for the balance owing and sell the car if he wanted. If you financed the car, you would still need to pay off the loan if you were needing to get rid of the car. The issue with a lease is the balance is the debt balance is sometimes higher as you are only paying it down to the residual.

Issue is when you buy the car during the lease term, you pay the sales tax on the buy out.
When you sell the car you'll be upside down as you most likely won't recover the tax portion when you price the car for a quick sale, so you'll loose money.
Better off to find someone to take over the lease. Not easy I know. Good luck.
