Advice on which c63 to get.
Sorry to open pandora's box yet again. I am E46 M3 owner taking the MB plunge. Have been looking into C63s for a couple of weeks spending way too much time online and annoying my wife in the process. Finally its time to buy.
Narrowed it down to 2 cars. Wondering which one you guys would choose. Same color combination. Both cars are fully loaded. 1 owner. Similar miles.
Option 1. (NON CPO)
2009 33K miles. 6 months left in warranty. Fully loaded including P30. At a non-MB dealership. Negotiated down to $44K. Did not do a diagnostic from the MB dealership to know what needs to be done on this car yet but plan on doing so before actually purchasing. But its safe to assume that car needs rear tires in about 6000 miles and possibly pads at around 40K. I usually drive only like 7000 miles/year.
Option 2. (CPO)
2008 30K miles. 3 months left in warranty and then 1 more year for CPO warranty. Everything except the P30. At a MB dealership. Negotiated down to $45,100. As part of certification they replaced brake pads and two tires. Did all the services required so I am good for the next 10K miles.
The way I see it comes down to Warranty vs P30. 08 vs 09(if that makes a difference). I probably would never track this car. Maybe once or twice just to get it out of my system. But I do like to have the P30 for resale value and just to know that I have it.
Planning on only keeping the car for about an year and a half.
Let me know what you guys think. Thinking of purchasing it by this weekend.

How much for an 09 CPO? I can only imagine that it should not be too much more than $45k. 09 P30 has the AMG suspensions, so the ride maybe a bit harder. I would get the 08 with CPO, then plan on getting a tune, KW v3, and a LSD to make up for the P30. Good luck and give us an update if you can.

Reply. I had a 2009 w/ P30 ordered. I would check to make sure everything in the P30 is on the car. The first ones shipped over did not include the P30 suspension or the P30 steering wheel. Easy to check based on steering wheel. Anyway, I thought I would just let you know that. As for me, I would not want a car with this much power w/o LSD. So option 1 would be my choice.
Oh and P30 does not have any additional power. I think it adds five things of which I only got three - firmer suspension, top speed limiter increased, LSD, suede steering wheel and one other thing which I can't remember.

Thanks for all your input.
Is the Performance Package (I guess in the P30's case just LSD) such an attractive option on these cars? Or is it because its all enthusiasts on this forum that its considered desirable?
I could see how 09 vs 08 might come into play. Seems like people don't want 08s unless its priced pretty low.

Can you hold out for a 2010? I have the PP on my car and absolutely love it. Red calipers add a real touch of sportiness and exclusivity too...
Either way you can't really go wrong. I too graduated from an E46. The power will blow you away and will likely change your whole driving style.

In my months of research, I am seeing prices in the 44k-47k range, for what you described. It all varies by mileage, location, options, etc..

my wife bananas! :D
Option 1 definitelt if it passes mb diagnostic You are only keeping it for a year and a bit only and dont really put on too many miles. The 09 will give you a better trade in value too

The 09 and buy an Extended Limited Warranty for 7Y/135K.
If you sell the car you can transfer warranty to new owner or get a pro-rated refund.
CPO is not worth the $2-3K that they charge for it.

If you keep looking, you can definitely find an Option 1 that IS actually CPO.
I recently bought nearly an identical car, with 1 year left on factory, then negotiated 2 years of CPO on top of it. Keep looking....it took me about 5 months to find the right car.

Yeah that's is one option. Thanks. That way if I really do feel like having the safety net in 6 months time when the warranty runs out I can purchase a extended warranty...But I thought the CPO is LOT more comprehensive even when compared to the MB extended warranty or other warranties through 3rd party companies?

The point is that there ARE cars out there exactly like what you want that ARE CPO....so why compromise? My '09 is nearly identical to your Option 1, and I paid $43k CPO with nearly identical miles....
So why get one that's not CPO when you can get one that IS?
IMO, you can't beat the peace of mind that comes with knowing the car's CPO.
