First time at a road course track weeeooo
Yesterday was my first time at a road course track, what a blast. I am hooked.
Did pretty decent considering I was running 400 treadwear all seasons on the rear and 340 TW on the front...
There was a newer M3, Viper (my buddy), 08 Viper ACR, RX7 with a LS1 V8 from a vette in it, 2600lbs and 500hp and lots of other cars, STI's, mustang, etc..
Its a small technical course with lots of sharp corners. My tires were definitely at the limits as I was drifting and sliding everywhere, I couldn't put the power down for the life of me.
My friend in the Viper ran 67.8 on 40 TW tires, the Viper ACR ran 67.9 on 300 TW tires, M3 did 74.3 on 280 TW tires, RX7 V8 66.5, 2002 Z06 ran 68.0, I ran 70.0.
For a 4000lbs car it does pretty good around the track, it doesn't feel that heavy, the brakes work good, the power with the mods I got is tons. Only thing that pissed me off was the tranny, it didn't over heat, but it wouldn't downshift sometimes when I wanted it to, I found myself having to wait till the revs came down more half way into the corner to get it down a gear. This would always happen on this one turn.
Considering the ****ty tires I had on the rear (All seasons) and the power, the car wasn't terribly hard to control, you just had to be smooth with the wheel and throttle. It wasn't all over the road like those videos you see on youtube of topgear.. But if you get on the throttle too much it will go sideways
Unfortunately, no vids of myself. Left the gopro on accidentally and killed the battery Next time..
Anyone have suggestions on tires??? Need something for street and track use. A second set of rims would be perfect...

It is addictive isn't it! My first day out this season is early May and I am very excited!
The PSS are good track options if you only track sometimes. If you decide to track more seriously, the Bridgestone RE-11 is very hard to beat but also civilized on the street. The PSS is the better overall compromise unless you want to go more hard core. Given that you had less than ideal tires on already, you would find them to be a huge improvement on the track IMO.

What do you guys get for oil temps? I was sitting at 129C the whole time.
I think I am going to change the oil after that.. and send in a sample for analysis, it got pretty hot.
