C63 Track Pad Suggestions

Hi, I have a C63 with the P31 Development Package. It has the compound brakes. Does anyone have any track experience with these (I will put racing brake fluid in the car before I track it)? I'm planning on just one track weekend this year and trying to figure out what to do.

If the stock pads don't cut it, does anyone have any suggestions for pads that would fit the development package's brakes? I think the OEM pads front and rear are around $400.

Thanks!

I used the Endless MX72 pads with Castrol SRF fluid and it was fantastic. Depending on your experience, however, and for just one track weekend I would likely go stock. The stock set up is pretty good unless you are very fast and will spend a lot of time on the track. No sense in spending $1,000 on pads and fluid for 1 weekend IMO.

I ran the stock pads and fluid on Mosport and did not have issues with the brakes for multiple 20 minute runs throughout the day.

For just one weekend, I would run stock pads. You will significantly shorten their lifespan though, and they can be found for just over $400 online. If you are running in hot climate or at a track that abuses brakes then the fluid swap is a must. I prefer Motul RBF 600 which is reasonably priced and I have never boiled.

The ADA uses stock pads and brake fluid.

The OEM fluid is actually very good.

The best one thing you could do is flush the brake fluid. That being said, I did not and had no problems on 1yr old fluid.

That surprises me... was the track one that is easy on brakes or were you not pushing the car hard? I have boiled brake fluid that was less than 30 days old in cars that weigh less than the C63. I do believe that the OEM fluid is actually decent but if it was a year old, there is no way I would be able to get through a track weekend without problems on a track that had heavy braking zones and if was was pushing the car hard (IMO only ). There are some guys here who have toasted a set of OEM pads in a weekend too... maybe it comes down to how hard you are pushing the car. A big heavy car like the C63 eats tires/pads/fluid for lunch

As others have said, one track weekend and stock is fine. If you go more frequently or are very serious, there is performance benefits and better temperature tolerance with after market pads/fluid.

You are correct. Everything at the AMG Driving Academy cars at all the events I have attended are stock. I had the same dilemma about tracking my SLS, I called and spoke to the ADA guys about this and they said for the two to three track days I will do a year just a brake flush with the OEM fluid is fine, not to waste my money on pads, fluid and stainless steel lines, besides, MB Canada will not be easy to deal with in the event of a brake failure with the aftermarket stuff, so I wont take a chance just yet.

Sure you have. But probably not OEM MB +4 fluid.

1:50.88 on Laguna Seca. Go to about 6:30 to get 1 lap plus pass.

Also note SLS on steel were doing 1:37.5

Yes it does have about a 90F higher boiling point than OEM.

Agreed. I have RacingBrake front rotors now. Evosport brake lines to install and titanium shims. No plan to change pad or fluid type, although RB gave me some RBF600.

Nice thing about the RacingBrake rotors is that they can handle an aggressive pad if I felt I needed one.

If the depreciation kept going, I could enter my car in the ChumpCar series in a couple more years. LOL
