H-pipe

On a semi-related note, I'd like to hear more vids of the gt pro double X pipe setup. I came across this videos a long time ago and the owner ended up being on this site. He really expressed how much it cleaned out the sound of the car compared to X/straight setup. It's so hard to tell over videos but I think this setup always sounded amazing. Is gt pro even still around?

I just want to thank you guys! I have been trolling for months here trying to figure out a set up that I like. I remember one forum member told me to install a H pipe to retain the AMG sound. I am going to have this done ASAP. I might have a problem having someone remove the secondary cats for me living out here in Kalifornia.
Once again thanks a million for being the Ginny pigs!
God Bless,
Robert

To me, the rest of your exhaust looks stainless and the new pipe sections look aluminized.

Make sure they used the right one dude. I'd hate to have a nice OEM stainless set up and then some "Hack" put cheap pipe on there trust me when I say this.
If you need to redo it for some reason make sure they use stainless (More $ but its the "Proper way"

Any metal will spark when you cut it. Thats not a determination on the pipe material used.

EDIT: ok now i do suspect it's aluminized steel from reading about it a bit. Maybe I should go back to talk to the exhaust guy or maybe buy some high quality stainless steel pipes myself and tell him to weld them on =S
Does aluminized steel or stainless steel affect sound or anything? Or only the quality and durability? I have done many cuts to the exhaust lately and want to give it a break. Can aluminized steel last 6 months? I'll probably use them for 6 months instead of just wasting money trying straight/x/H pipes and now wanting to switch all over again. - -

^^doubt you'll be able to differentiate between aluminized and stainless steel, especially with such a short section of pipe. What you do want to verify is that the welds will remain intact between aluminized and stainless.
And sound clips please!

Perhaps you can convince Mike @ MBH to make an H-pipe? Should be easier and cheaper to make than an X since they do make straight pipes to replace the secondaries. They already have the jig made for the straight and adding the small section should be simple for them.

JulioPerez's vid on Page 2.. great example
And yes we removed our 2ndCats w/ straights, and resonators w/ straights. Then just weld a 1.5" tubing on resonator area to connect the banks.

Thanks for the advice, ill keep a look out.
And I'll make a vid soon when the weather gets better. The sound is truly sounding better each day And car is very smooth for some reason like the Xpipe or better.
I shoulda went 1" tubing for even crazier barks, but I was afraid there will be a lack of flow between both banks

Sounds awesome man... Do you have a slight drone still in the car? Hope you enjoy the ride in good health mate. Make me wanna go back to stock system with H-pipe mods. Whilst I love my full IPE system with the valve control it sounds a lil too rude (in a good way) on the road but every jackass thinks you're initiating a race when the car down shift.

So from my experience I think with that H pipe setup, your car will definitely sound cleaner and less rasp, but maybe a little bit quieter (still louder than stock though). Acceleration will be noticeably smoother.
I had no cat no resonator before with straight / straight setup.. it was way too raspy but loud. Now the H pipe just cut the rasp by half and sounds more tamed. It's only a little bit quieter and it sounds good.

I would suggest doing what me and Julio did, use 1.5" tubing for H pipe for more AMG bark
But I remember you mentioned you like the stock sound. You might not like the resonator removal because the sound will be much deeper than stock. You might think it sounds "cheap" (lol)
Found 2 video comparisons for ya:
STOCK-
RESONATOR DELETE-
Resonator just sounds a bit louder/deeper than stock
