I know we all like our cars clean and shiny but was wondering who else out there has a taste of their car in another kind of condition. Personally, I think a bit of dirt and mud at the right spot and with the right background looks pretty sweet too.

I took these pictures today.... thoughts?

Not the same kind of car, but on a road trip out to Death Valley I decided to visit Mosaic Canyon outside of Stovepipe Wells. It was about 2.5 miles on a dirt road to get to the parking lot. Mosaic Canyon was beautiful, but the vette got absolutely filthy. Didn't find it sexy. Couldn't wait to get to the next town with a car wash.

I once had a huge mud splash on my car from the race track (dipped my wheel into a puddle at the apex) I kept that on my car for a week!

haha well, I'm in a brand new subdivision atm and our builder hasnt paved the driveway yet. With the sidewalk just completed, my car barely makes it through without scraping.... I'm going to have to wait till they pave my driveway before I install my springs

and JCH, the problem imo is because your car is covered in just dust. dust sucks especially on a black car. Mud however is different... I like seeing how high I kick it up and trace the projection

Monday however, it'll be bath time. my local dealership has told me a few times they want me to bring my car in and they will wash it for me... I've been hesitant cause I like washing my own car but my current setup at the new place makes it difficult. So I might stop by and micromanage the process lol...

Don't do it Fung. I will bet a week's pay that after they wash it you find swirls and marring in the sunlight. Dealerships talk a good talk (like they know how to wash a car better than anyone) but it is very, very rarely true. Do they use two buckets, fresh water and fresh supplies with every car? What type of wash supplies to they use? Do they pressure wash the big stuff off first? Do they hand dry it with the same drying towel they use for everyone else? When they hand dry do they dab or rub?

Maybe I'm too **** with the paint on my car but I spend 10-12 hours each Spring making it perfect and it pains me to see what dealers or local car washes do to the car.

I agree with gthal, skip the dealership offer by any means. With that much mud on ur car, u r asking for troubles.

Just go to the pressure washer bay to remove all the mud, and u can give her a good wash when u have the right set-up at home.

Agree with gthal. I washed my car by myself only being very careful and had no swirl marks until I took my car in for first service last month and saw them MOPPING my car (forgot to tell them don't wash it). I was about to cry when I saw it and when I came out of course it was swirl marks galore

yea, true guys.... my gut feeling was always to skip the dealer wash and i was always hesitant.... think i'll just go to a coin wash instead lol...

btw, i guess I am a minority when it comes to thinking a muddy car can look good lol... oh well, car will be uber clean real soon ... hope the weather holds out

Not quite like this, but my car was getting pretty bad this weekend. Spent the day taking good care of her: hand wash, machine polish, three coats of wax, took care of the sour AC smell, and installed K&N filters. Much better.

1200, your trim looks like it's blacked out. can you post more pics. Thinking of doing that with my car but want to see how dark it looks.

also, did you get any codes from K&N filters?

I had my trim vinyl wrapped in matte and I used plastidip on the grill. Pics are before tint (and on a dirty car). I was going to take more tonight but I had to run back to the office. No codes after K&N install. I left the charcoal in at the suggestion of Eurocharged. No noticeable hp increase but there was something different about the cold-start bark. Not necessarily louder but different (in a good way).

I'm not with you in agreeing a muddy car (especially black) looks good. However, when having silver/alloy coloured wheels (usually stock), I love when they look dirty sometimes after a little while. It gives it that dark gray colour, I prefer that over the alloy shade, I guess I'm weird lol
