Tuned P31 C63 Information! Finally Some Answers!
I found this on OE Tuning Blog...
I think this can finally answer some of our questions!
WHP gains on a P31 are 27-36whp and Torque is 28-37wtq
WHP is about the same on both tuned P31 and Non P31... It's the torque that impresses me... About 10wtq more over a non P31 tuned C63
Non-P31 C63 AMG Baseline – 363.6wHp & 343.6wtq
Non-P31 C63 AMG Tuned – 421.3wHp & 374wtq
P31 C63 AMG Baseline – 390.8wHp & 352.6wtq / 394.3wHp & 347.3wtq
P31 C63 AMG Tuned – 427.0wHp & 381.4wtq / 421.0wHp & 384.6wtq
P31 C63 AMG has: 2x baselines and 2x tuned runs to demonstrate consistency.

2014 C63 AMG 507 sedan
Thanks to OE Tuning for doing the testing, and thanks to RSquad for posting it! I think it was hypothesized that the gains won't be as much for the P31 car, but seeing the numbers show there is some gain to be had with an aftermarket tune.

That still doesn't explain the video OE posted of a non P31 tuned VS P31 stock race in which both cars were side by side. P31s dyno higher than 390whp some as high as 430whp stock.

(a)'12 C63 P/P, LSD, 19" m/spoke,comfort pack. (b)Astra SRI.
P31 is NOT just about outright power.....
Yes, if power is all you want, then I agree, that you're better off just tuning the standard car.
However for us, like I said, it's NOT all about speed. Our C63 is a keeper, we'll have it for a long time, It's "part of the family", so we liked the idea of the "factory" option, performance engine, with a bit more power, but also with SLS crank, rods & pistons. Of course in Aus, 19" M/spoke wheels, bigger brakes etc are also included but it was really the "factory" engine option we wanted.....we also optioned the LSD.
So for us anyway, having the "factory" engine option, means something....and we're happy we have it.
Cheers, Pickles.
