Tint %
So im getting car tinted soon and i cant decide between 40% or 50%. I've seen various 40% but haven't seen any 50% on the c63 yet, any suggestions?? I'll be using 3M crystalline. My car is a black 09 c63.

Here's another thread on 50% tinting. I personally have never seen a car tinted 50%. Usually people go darker like 35%.

I have a friend with 50% tint on his windows and you can barely tell they are even tinted. I would say go darker. You don't need to do a 5% or anything extreme like that but if you're going to put the time and money into it you might as well do it right the first time.

That is like adding the mercedes, ferrari, lamborghini, porsche, and every other luxury car together and multiplying by 10. Ok, not really, but that is really expensive if you're in the US.
I was quoted $380 for everything but the windshield here in Illinois and that was for F1 Pinnacle at 35%.
Maybe shop around a little before pulling the trigger.

which dealer did you go to, btw? I will make sure to steer clear of that dealership since I am located in cali too.

There are tons of people on this board from Cali. Be sure to reach out next time you want to do anything custom. I'm sure someone here will be able to point you in the right direction.
Post pics when you get a chance. I'm curious how the 40% tint will look.

Just got some tints a couple hours ago. 35% but they haven't seen sunlight nor will see sunlight for a couple more days.
Before:
After:
it is the perfect shade in my opinion. Dark enough to show its tinted, but can still see the interior pretty well. (for ticket purposes)

Yeah, it's basically factory tiny only. Which I think is BS. I've been pulled twice so far and I'm leaving my tints on. They can go to hell with their silly laws and BS tickets. Tints don't really put anyone in danger. Not even cops because if someone is pulled, they roll their windows down. If they don't, that should be an automatic red flag.

Yeah I agree it's BS, just another way for state to rob you. Unfortunately there are more than enough cops who are big enough dbag to pull you over and hand you a ticket for just tint.

Well this car came from AZ and you'd be insane not to tint your windows.
Interesting story - a friend of mine who lives in LA just told me about an incident where she was involved in a fender bender. A cop wa right across the street so she flagged him down. He asked if anyone was injured and she said she didn't know yet. He declined to take a report if there were no present injuries because "there are more important things to tend to." Of course I responded to her story, "like giving me fix-it tickets."

The law in Illinois now allows tint (up to 35%) on the front windows, but some of the cities including Chicago have ordinances against tint on the front windows. So you would basically have to avoid those cities if you didn't want to get a ticket.
Chicago continues to give out $250 fines for those who tint their windows and drive through the city. This is the only reason I have not gotten my windows tinted yet, but I really want 35% all around.
