Re-do on a Vinyl Taped Grille or Powdercoat
I searched and read several different methods of doing the grill blackout on these forums. I didn't realize 3m taping "wrapping", was a routine process.
Mine has all been vinyl taped previously and it is in marginal condition. I was planning to have it all removed and powder coated matte black until I read more information on here. The door molding is done the same. The emblems are either painted or dipped not sure.
If the vinyl tape really holds up can anyone recommend a high quality body shop that does this in the Dallas, TX area?

Plasti dip it. Very easy to do yourself, if you don't like it or mess up just peel it off and start over

Dont do plastidip it looks cheap. I powder-coated my grill, LED (gloss black) and chrome trunk piece (colour matched obsidian) . The window trim and chrome door handle inserts are done in gloss black vinyl. It doesnt matter what you do vinyl or painting -both will get nicked over time. I chose to powdercoat what was difficult like the grill since I didnt want cut marks from the vinyl. I have seen vinyl and they look good though.

Mine doesn't look that bad just nicks and cut marks, some minor peeling. I figured take it all off and start over with powder coat. I just got this car and sent it straight to a body shop for minor work,
Just trying to figure best way to do this since already has all chrome vinyl taped.
Guess it is personal preference. I like a very clean look, no lines.

I don't think you had your grill powdercoated since it is plastic... The best option is paint or plastidip. Paint is pretty known on this board for chipping from rocks and looking pretty rough not too long afterwards (on the front grill)
I plastidipped my front grill, and it turned out great. I took the grill off the car and masked parts off when I did it which will help it look more uniform and OEM.
