New CF GT style hood installed today!
While I was having some other work done I had my carbon fiber hood installed and the beautiful front lip. I am thrilled. Cars & Coffee in the morning!

i love that lip. and the hood looks great. one question ... it looks a few mm short, the way the grille doesn't line up. is that the way it's supposed to be, or can the hood mounting points be adjusted somehow?

Thank you. The top part of the grill is original from the car, had it wrapped - the width of the hood is a smidge too wide. Fitment was close but not perfect. I was called down to the shop this morning to have that exact issue pointed out. I gave them the green light. Besides, when I am driving exactly the speed limit (as always, lol) who is going to notice that :-)

I'll definitely be leaving the CF exposed. I love the look. The brand is VIS Racing and the seller was Ultimate Motor X.
The installer said it is a good quality piece but could you some detailed engineering regarding some of the specs and hardware attachments. The 'front lip' is just a few mm too wide. The original hood springs (not the struts) don't snap in securely and just fall out, the hardware where the hood struts connect to don't screw in deep enough to be seated flush like on the original hood, and the opening for the emblem isn't large enough and needed to be filed out some to let the badge in. Overall manufacturing quality is pretty good but for the money spent and the type of car THEY KNOW it is going on these details should be thought out and tested - and perfected.
But other than that, I've been turning heads all day! Love it.

Love the hood. Looks really good on black. VIS? I think Seibon has a similar hood. Unless they are sourcing it from the same manufacturer. Too bad my car is red, contrast is too much for the wife to like :P

Sneak in the hood AND trunk and I don't think the wife will notice. Yes, Seibon has a similar design. Could be the same source manufacturer. Seibon says 'look for the Seibon badge'. VIS Racing says 'look for the VIS Racing' badge . . . So with about a $300 diff and decent reviews of both I went with VIS.
I even bought a CF design hood badge but it didn't work out. OEM badge weighs .10 oz. New badge had some mass to it. I like that. But underneath the lacquer and along the edges of the star were some air bubbles. Tiny, but enough so that I wouldn't be able sleep at night. Sadly had to send it back.
Also, trying some new detailing products. Been using Zaino for years. Love it. Nothing but compliments. Eight years of loyalty. But just tried some Menzerna. Seems okay so far but need more time to compare.
Did I just jack my own thread? ha.

Very satisfied. The pattern is superb across 98% of the surface. They had one curve that got slightly distorted (same curve on the other side is perfect). And there are a few anomalies here and there but you have to really look for them. With just a casual look it appears close to flawless. And the finish is very nice as well. Haven't found any air bubbles, no low points, no high points. The resin gives it good depth and it has a great shine.
A topless woman could walk by in the parking lot and I still wouldn't take my eyes off my new hood. Ok, maybe a glance.

I saw a black C63 parked at the movies here and even though I have my own C63, I couldn't stop admiring it! Just looks soo thick!!
So I'm confused. Looks like Dads first hood design. Is there one guy in China that makes these and then sells them under different names?

So I'm in the parking lot of Whole Foods yesterday afternoon and I was admiring how the hood changes color as you look at it from different angles in bright sunlight when I see in the reflection none other than a topless woman approaching. I killed two birds with one stone by staring at the hood I could gawk at her reflection too. lol
I believe Stone Carbon may be the Hong Kong manufacturer that you are refering to. I certainly don't know which resellers are supplied by him but I first saw this design on his website. I contacted him for a price hoping to get a deal by going direct but the total cost (hood, shipping, import taxes) was higher than buying it elsewhere. So I bought mine elsewhere.

Figured you'd see a topless woman at whole foods.....all those damn earth loving hippies that don't believe in being bundled up...you probably paid an arm and leg for some apples, a small bag of granola and some almond milk...
You would think that how whole foods rapes its customers (I know organic is expensive blah blah blah) that they could solve all the worldly organizations they claim they donate to...
As you said, don't paint it and ruin it...
Stone is supplied by the same Chinese maker that supplies all the rest I believe...

I want to give a BIG shout out to the shop that repaired my car. I had rock chips galore but now my front end is pristine. I highly recommend:
Details Ltd. Addison TX. Midway Rd. Ron and Justin took great care of me and my car.
They joined forces with me against State Farm who was trying to cheap out on the repair of an AMG. We won. They insisted reps from the paint company come out with their spectrograph equipment to get a perfect match for my metallic black color. They went the extra mile to install my CF hood and front lip, both of which came with insufficient hardware. As you see, my car is as good (actually better) than new!
Take your AMGs, take your Acuras, take your everything to them and you'll be pleased.

Car looks great man! How's the fitment on the hood? Mind telling us how much it was for the shop to install it and how many adjustments they had to make? I'd love to do that on my car, but paint the hood and leave the vents carbon...that'd look sick!
