That Cold Start sound !!!
Is there any way to make the car start every time like it does on full cold start ,
I love how it crackles and pops , has anybody looked into this or know what sensor makes it do this eg: intake air sensor ,or external temp sensor , coolant sensor ect .
I know it would dump a lot of fuel but those ten seconds are pure awesome.

^ You can just start it and walk behind. If it is a cold start it'll last long enough for you to get out and enjoy. Or just film it.

But what makes it sound like this during the cold start? And not after... :-(
I have deleted the secondary cats and center silencer but would still want a better sound during idle..

When I was looking at one before it became mine, the dealer casually gave me the key and had me start it inside the showroom. I found it awkward until...

My old C43 is not too bad either on a cold start, after secondary cat and resonator delete. It doesn't have the fancy exhaust valves like you all have on the 63 though....

Had to post my old vid. It was early 2012 and was pretty cold. I drove it around for a few minutes to warm it up before the vid. No way I would rev to 6k without warming it up lol.

On a technical note, I'm not certain nor am I some guru, but I believe that this is being caused by the secondary air injection system.
My Sti would do the same thing where it idles a smidge higher when you start it and just has that popping at what not that we speak of here. However, once I deleted that system there was none of that.
Basically the secondary air injection (SAI) helps the car on cold starts get going, especially on days that are particularly cold. Up in NY sometimes it would take a couple extra cranks to get the Sti going because it didn't have the SAI.
Now, for C63's, many of you are in warmer environments so it will always be brief. Basically, you start the car, SAI automatically is going once you fire it up but then the system knows the car is already relatively warm or warm enough for the SAI to be shut down.
Now, if this is the case then there is no real solution. Deleting the system means no rumbling on cold starts because the is no SAI. Unless............ One of you gazillionaires makes some type of climate controlled garage and cool that baby down to 40 degrees and see how long the popping lasts, then crank it up to 75-80 for normal summer temps and see how long the popping lasts.

Secondary air isn't associated with how well the engine starts, but does have impact on the sounds. During a cold start-up, the exhaust gas is pretty rich. The secondary air system is provides a method of reducing emissions after a cold start - it injects air into the exhaust manifold in order to help burn any remaining fuel. That causes detonation in the exhaust system which can really crackle and pop. Once the engine warms up, the exhaust becomes less rich AND the air injection point is moved down to the cats to help improve their efficiency, so the noise disappears.

Exactly what Zcct04 said but I wonder what temp sensor triggers the secondary air pumps , if we could trick this sensor in to thinking its cold when we want ,we would get this explosive start every time

thanks, as I mentioned I am no expert on the system etc. but I feel like that is what causes the pulses in the exhaust.

Pretty sure a copy paste of the link will do the trick
