Drag racing in Dallas this Friday
We got rained out last week, so going to try again this Friday at Dallas Raceway in Crandall. Gates open at 7, starts feeling great around 8. Great track for beginners as its never too busy, and only 20 bucks to race as much as you want. So far we have my 2013 Coupe and another 2013 SL63. Would be nice to have some good AMG representation out there for once!

I might be able to make that. I could use some practice at the strip. But I am really looking forward to Sept. 7th at Eagles Canyon Raceway. You guys should look into that also. I think a roadcourse is more fun than a straight line.

I haven't been to ECR but I did enjoy a day at Motorsport Ranch when I had the E63. Going back in October for the Mercedes Club track day. A little nervous of overheating issues with this car on a road course, based on what I've read here and on PL. I never thought I'd enjoy drag racing but it turns out to be pretty fun. The crowds aren't what I expected, and the place is practically brand new, all together makes for a not so hillbilly experience.

I am planning on it for Friday. Dave I am in for ECR as well hopefully, it's on my calendar anyway.
Try the 1/4 mile drag racing it is really fun believe it or not. You will fight (and pay) for every 1/10th of a second once you start. I always thought the same thing "straight line stupid, oval track boring", BUT try it and I bet you will change your mind.

Agreed. I usually roll down with one other AMG owner but never see anyone else. I should probably cross post this in W211 and a few others. Would like to see more BiTurbos too.

Last fall I was at the 1/8 mile drag strip up near Krum. Blue Jae was there that night. It was indeed FUN and I look forward to doing it again especially since I would like a full 1/4 mile. Just sayin' roadcourse is numero uno for me though. That said - how do I get into this Mercedes Club for the trip to MSR? (about to google 'mercedes club')
For those who want to try ECR I suspect you better hurry up and sign up. Novice positions fill up first. You get an instructor with you for the whole day. It is quite useful. Go to ECR's website and select 'Payment' in the upper right corner, then scroll down and look for the Sam Pack Ford event on 9/7.
BTW, I replaced my brake fluid with Motul 600 racing brake fluid. It is suggested prior to hitting the track.

It's the official MBCA Fort Worth chapter of mercedes club. It's not exactly a young crowd, but joining costs something like 50 bucks a year, and it's good for essentially a wholesale discount on parts and accessories at either park place or MBPlano. I've EASILY recovered my money many times over. Just buying oil is cheaper at the dealership now than at walmart. Makes buying Benz parts much more bearable and a lot easier too, since Park Place keeps just about everything in stock. I digress. The trip to Cresson is linked from that page, it's a very beginner type of event. No in car instruction, just a chance to go on a track and have fun by yourself.

Thanks guys! I found it and joined even before your kind responses. 'cept the website pointed me (based on zip code) to the 'North Texas' chapter. Later this morning I plan on getting back out there and looking for the link for the MSR event.

I plan to see you all this Friday. Catch up on the latest road course/track events. Do some 1/4 mile runs for the first time in this car. Can't wait!

JumpinJim got a little nervous when he heard Kleeman header C63 might show, so he's upped the ante with Drag Radials on the SL.
The C is also patiently waiting..

Better hurry, there's only one spot left for the MSR event as of three hours ago. The link to the fort worth chapter is the one i posted. They're the ones hosting the event, but as a member you can attend any chapter's event. Good luck!

Ha, if I can't get it to not bog I'd be better off without them. Might be a good show regardless...could break an axle. Either way I'll give you a head start.

I might be able to make it out too! Since I've got the pump jumpinjim so graciously donated put on this past weekend. Thanks again for the help with that. Seems to have helped it out. I can actually hear the pump running now and I couldn't at all before.

You're welcome. Would be great to see the E55 again. Always fun to see the super sedan that took the HP war from cold war to all out shooting war.

I will bring a floor jack and cordless impact gun so we can swap those drag radials from car to car JumpinJim.
Damn my car is SOO much faster with the front spoiler, blacked out lights & trim.

Lol. And I'll bring the foot wide spacers so they'll fit our cars.

Man I cant wait to go tomorrow night. Anyone want to set a meet up point and time? Junction of 175 & 635? Or just meet there at the track whenever we get there?
