Track days, AMGs where are you?
I have been doing track days this year. So far 7 days, tracks are the following:
Homestead, PBIR, Mid Ohio, Autobahn CC , Road America.
I have not seen one AMG!
Where are all the C63s? Any AMGs!

Agreed, I never see C63's at the tracks here in CA. Of course I don't bring my C63 to the track either, I bring my race car instead.

Natman, next time you go to Nelson ledges, let me know.
Merc63, I run 19s
B9, what is your race car?
Emercicr, that gathering was at the PBIR drag strip, I talking road course.
But I will come to DS in Sept. but depends on dates.
Colin @Velos, PBIR road course is good, but not long, but fun.

Do a lot of dragstrip racing in my AMG. A regular at the local 1/4 mile strip. Headed to Motorsport Ranch road course for an MB club event with a few other forum members in Oct.

Represent
Occasionally I will run into a C63 or another AMG vehicle, but it its not unusual for me to represent the breed in road racing events (Mid-Atlantic, US). The car is always of interest and very respected in the paddock. Take a ride around Summit Point Raceway:

If you're in the DC metro area, come to 75-80 Dragway on August 23 - there will be a (small) group from the Greater Washington Section.
If you're in the DC metro area and interested in track events, see http://www.gws-mbca.org/events/SummitPointDE_0913.html for details.

Not many people track their c63 anyways. It isn't really a "track" car. Sure, Dads tracked his but his car wasn't anything like the rest of them around here.
Or people just take their GTR to the track instead

I'll be at Eagles Canyon in Sept for 'Corvette Day'. And then Motor Sports Ranch in Oct. Looks like I might get to meet JumpinJim - that is if I don't go to the drag strip before then. So far I am skipping on the hot Texas evenings at the strip.

I Track my C63
Love to hear that other C63's make it to the track. I have moded out my beast for the track. I reside in south Florida and have been running my car at Homestead, PBIR and Sebring. HPDE events.

For those of you that have run track days in a C63, when does the limp mode appear? What I mean is how long did you push it before it went into limp mode and how long until you were underway again? Is it an engine temp that sets off limpy or what? I am looking at 2 track days in September but really don't want to hear that some lame *** limp mode kicks in.
What about the AMG Driving Academy cars? If there are C63 rides there, are they prepped or modified so they can be beaten down on the track?

You are a MCT so the problems are more serious. My car (2009) goes limp at 280 degree oil temps. Water always seems to be 199 degrees. As soon as the oil temps get back below 280 it resets on my car. For me, this may mean coming off track and cruising through or parking in pit lane for a lap. Out of 8 sessions last time out, I went limp mode twice on a 90+F day. It can be managed by short shifting, avoiding engine braking, staying out of the traction control and running a higher gear than you naturally would on straights. Damn shame all of this.
I don't think the C63 academy cars get special cooling, but they are not run the way you would run a 20-30 minute lapping session. Several years ago (and before I tracked my C63) I put a CLS AMG into limp mode during an AMG Challenge at Homestead. Scared the sh+t out of me because I thought I broke the car.

Funny, if it wasn't for the fact that my GT-R has been laid up with a blown motor, i never would've realized how much fun of a track car my Black Series is...Have had it on track 6-7 times this summer, and am going to be at Blackhawk Farms in Illinois on the 21st and Mid Ohio with NASA the 23rd.

Wow. This is incredibly weak.
Thanks for the info and the link. Guess the hot days are out of the question. When I do the AMG Academy in October it will be interesting to see how this is handled.
Simply unacceptable.
