Battery grounding? pos or neg?

Hey fellas, I need to charge my battery, bought a Schumacher battery charger to do the job. Is the battery grounded on the - or +? It's hard to tell by looking, although there's more wires coming out of the NEG post..

In the instructions it says:
Determine which post of the battery is grounded to the chassis. If the negative post is grounded to the chassis (as in most vehicles), see step 6.5 If the positive is grounded, see step 6.6

6.5 For negative-grounded vehicle, connect the POS (RED) clip from the battery charger to the POS+ ungrounded post of the battery. Connect the NEG (BLACK) clip to the vehicle chassis or engine block away from the battery.

6.6 For a positive-grounded vehicle, connect the NEG (BLACK) clip from the battery charger to the NEG - ungrounded post of the battery. Connect the POS (RED) clip to the vehicle chassis.
Thanks for your help!!!

Our cars are negative ground, attach the red clip to the positive side (+) of the battery, connect the black clip to the negative side (-) of the battery and then plug the charger into the wall socket for power. Red is positive, Black is negative and goes from the battery to the frame of the car in the trunk.

Make sure you do not attach and detach clips with the charger powered up as sparks will be produced which could ignite the gases released from the battery while charging causing an explosion..

OK thanks! So why do you say to connect both clips to the battery when the manual says to connect the NEG to the chassis?

If you follow the negative side cable you will see that it goes directly to the frame of the trunk. The reason they say some place on the chassis is to prevent sparking close to the battery. This is why I said to put the clips on first then plug in the charger. Either way will work.

Charge it from the engine compartment. On the left (passenger) side attach the positive clip to the plate that resides under the sliding red cover. Look towards the inner wheel well, you'll see a post sticking up that is directly grounded to the chassis. Attach the negative clip to it and plug your charger in.
